From Variety (warning, contains spoilers about the season finale)
Desperate Housewives villain Roger Bart, who plays the show's pharmacist with a homicidal bent, will join the hit ABC series full-time next season, reports Variety.
Bart stole scenes as the creepy George Williams, a lonely man who develops a crush on one of his customers, Bree Van De Kamp (Marcia Cross). In Sunday's season finale, Bree's husband Rex apparently died after - unbeknownst to them - a jealous George tampered with his pills.
Beyond his Desperate Housewives gig, Bart will appear this December in the feature version of The Producers, reprising his stage role as Carmen Ghia. Bart scored a Tony nomimation for his Broadway performance in the musical.
Bart also will appear in the indie comedy I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With, directed by Jeff Garlin.
Bree's husband Rex apparently died????
Just when I thought this was a done deal!
WOOO
I love Roger Bart. LOOVE him
The way that is written, "apparently" died may mean he is still alive....

Half Happy, Half sad. That means he will be on West Coast taping DH, no way he will be in NY to do any shows or events...yet, I could see him on TV every week, so I guess I will be happy after all.

Oh, God. Keep him dead. I really don't like the man.
"Apparently" good news.
I heart Roger Bart.
Hey that rhymes!
although, dangit, now I apparently have to watch Desperate Housewives. As if ABC wasn't ruining my life enough already with Lost and Grey's Anatomy.
Why apparently? Doc said he died.
Yes, but notice how we didn't see the body....

Wait..Roger Bart...you mean Roger Bart?
In on Desperate Housewives?
hmmmm. I need to watch more tv.
And just because he shoots on the West Coast, doesn't mean he can do specials and concerts in NY. He's not in EVERY episode.
They be plenty of Bart to go around!

Bravo Bart. I've been in lust with you since You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown.
Yeah..it's well known here that I love him (I think he's basically the only thing I post, if ever, about O.o). It's great that he's got the job (I love that his character is different from most of the ones he's played before, as it shows his AMAZING range)...I just wish the writing on the show were better. The George/Bree storyline (and also the one with Felicia Tillman) is probably the best....the rest is, in my opinion, so weak and unoriginal.
However, Roger on TV every week is pretty damned awesome!!!
YAY!

This is excellent news for Roger and I am very happy for him.
I loved him from the minute I saw him in the Producers. The rest of the country is now finding out what we all knew about his talents.
He played that part on Desperate Housewvices brilliantly, and earned a regular spot on the show. The writers could have a field day with the character, and Roger's ability to play it so well.
He deserves this success, and even though it may mean not seeing him on the boards here in NY as often, we must put our selfishness aside and wish him all the best!

whose Roger Bart's wife? or girlfriend?
One of the best moments on TV for me this season was..
Bree finding out Rex died - she finishes polishing the silverware. Sits at the table, and just bawls. WHAT AN AMAZING MOMENT.
I'm happy for Roger.
I'm pretty sure Rex is dead. The actor who played him (who's name escapes me right now) was interviewed on Good Morning America. He said that all the men in the show knew their time there was limited and he had only given Rex a couple of seasons before he would be gone. He then mentioned all these other characters he's played in the past and who have all died - in the month of May. He said he now has an established pattern of dying in May which he hopes will just continue into the future.
uggg I love Rogers Bart but I hate George. lol Which means Roger is doing a really good job playing him. :)
And oh Harriet S. Harris getting beaten up so badly.
She needs to stay on the show as well. There is something so strangly likeable about her character.
YAY! MORE ROGER!
Be my lover Roger Bart.
and Cheyenne Jackson, you too. :)
