Sutton Foster, Cinderella (I said this, because it would enchant many different age audiences, so it has potential to make her a household name).

Orfeh....Evita...lol...I'm a broken record, I know.
But i think most "career defining" opportunities would be new, original roles, IMO.
I could see in time a revival of ONCE UPON A MATRESS with Leslie Kritzer would make an impact on Broadway and her career.
She has the chops and the comedy timing to make that role her own.
I agree with CPD. A lot. Let's do that. RIGHT NOW.

???
Cinderella, in which show?
I thought they meant INTO THE WOODS at first. But now I think they mean R&H's Cinderella.

Wasn't Millie Foster's career defining role?
Isn't Sutton doing pretty well already?
Even if it was R&H's Cinderella - it would not make her a "household" name (whatever that means), and the lady already had a ton of 'career defining' opportunities.
I think Sutton soon may be an even more household name with her involvement in Shrek, not to mention her appearance a while ago on Johnny & the Sprites.

No offense to anyone, but I don't think Johnny and the Sprites makes a lot of careers.
Yeah! Not even for the Sprites!

They could have been the Ginger Ales and no one would have blinked!
Lots of kids watch the Disney channel, hell look at Annelise van der Pol. She is a big time celebrity to households with children simply because she's on a corny tv show which is why she was brought into BATB, to make more money!
I'm not saying solely because of Sutton being on that show is making her a household name, but it definitely helps. And with her being in Shrek, she's going to become even more popular in middle America because families can go and see it, unlike some of the past shows she's been in that were more geared towards adults.
But it's true she already is a household name, especially for the tweens who sing the songs she originated at auditions time and again.

Sorry! I forgot about "Shrek", which I hope does extremelly well, but then, who knows...
I meant the Cinderella from Disney, or one that has not been written yet. Please, see Little-Lotte's post, I think she made more sencse than I :{
What about other actors? This post was meant to be about ALL ideas.
lol, blaxx, about the Sprites :>

Leslie Kritzer as Winnifred is pure genuis CurtainDownPuller. Also, her Fanny Brice needs to transfer to Broadway.
For 99% of actors out there, the career defining role would be in a new show. Have we had breakout stars in any revivals in the past 10 years?

Kristin Chenoweth in "Charlie Brown" possibly could count as one.
Sutton already gave a career-defining performance in MILLIE.

The thing with Charlie Brown is that the character of Sally (and "My New Philosophy") was added for the revival...so it was still an "original role" for KC
