After seeing Logan and watching the vid of Oklahoma, I want to see Hugh back on broadway. What are some roles you would like to see him in. I personally think he would be a perfect Sweeney.

I'd love to see him as the dad in Dear Evan Hansen! lol jk
I'm guessing Hugh only does shows where he's the headliner, so I could see him doing a revival of something fabulous, and definitely a sondheim type of show with big songs. I'd love to see him tap dancing too. Not sure where he fits.

He'd probably be a pretty good Ben Stone in Follies in a few years.

Do you think he can pull off the role of Joe Gillis in (rumored but unlikely to ever happen) Sunset Boulevard movie, opposite Glenn Close? He is a bit old, but the character can work with some good makeup and him losing some of that muscle.

Too old. Even if she is too old, Joe Gillis is supposed to the a somewhat innocent at the start, and i think he is just past that point.
I agree with posters who thought he'd be great as Ben Stone, Don Quixote, or Sweeney Todd, although I do wonder if his voice would hold out on there latter two. Don't see him doing Ben, unless the movie suddenly happens, because it is a little too much of an ensemble show.
I would also think he'd be great in Cyrano and maybe turn this greatly under appreciated show into a hit. (The version that Christopher Plummer starred in and for which he earned a Tony, despite its brief run).
And how about Tevye (I am serious), Henry Higgins, or John Adams (the latter in a limited run, Roundabout type of production). I doubt that Shenandoah will ever be revived again, although I loved it 40 years ago, but he'd be a good Charlie Anderson, although -- with memories of John Callum's performance, I wonder whether he could sing the score night after night.
I think his voice gets too nasally for Emile Dubuque, but that is moot, since it'll be 20 years before we see another revival of South Pacific and he'll be too old by then (and who knows what his voice would be like by then).

He's already playing Barnum, just in The Greatest Showman.

Please let him be in a movie version of Fun Home with Sutton Foster... and also... let the movie use cartoons a la the "take on me" video of the early 80's...

Speaking of Barnum, a teaser of THE GREATEST SHOWMAN was shown to film exhibitors at CinemaCon earlier today to enthusiastic reception. Lots of positive tweets about it in the twitterverse. Besides Hugh, Keala Settle is said to be wonderful in the movie. I'm really looking forward to it.
As to Broadway, if Colin Firth were not doing MY FAIR LADY, I'd love to see Hugh tackle Henry Higgins. Sweeney and Don Quixote, too, of course. As to whether he'd take a co-starring role, didn't he do a workshop or reading of ON THE TWENTIETH CENTURY for Roundabout before the recent revival? In that vein, what about THEY'RE PLAYING OUR SONG or the king in CAMELOT?
And absolutely, should he ever want to return to it (which I doubt), a revival of THE BOY FROM OZ.

Mamaleh -- it was hard to keep up with all the reports/tweets re the FOX presentation of THE GREATEST SHOWMAN by Hugh. Such excitement for a movie that won't be seen till December 25! Here's the account from Variety --
http://variety.com/2017/film/news/the-greatest-showman-hugh-jackman-cinemacon-1202019565/
There was also a lot of mention of Pasek and Paul by the film reporters, coming after their recent Oscar win, and even references to Dear Evan Hansen.
And the story about Keala was so heartwarming, especially the account of her audition when the Chairman/CEO of FOX herself ( Stacey Snider) welcomed Keala to Hollywood!
Taken from another report --
" but Jackman told the crowd to keep an eye on Keala Settle, who beat out several big-name actresses to play the Bearded Lady. Jackman then relayed the story of Settle’s audition, saying she came out and sang the show-stopping tune “This Is Me” with tears running down her eyes, prompting Stacey Snider to get out of her chair, give the actress a hug and say, “young lady, you just booked your first major motion picture.”..."
This project seems to be a good example of Hollywood and Broadway working together ( Hugh/Pasek&Paul are both big names for film and stage now ) and we also have someone like Keala representing the Broadway community among the film's talent list.
Back to topic -- will Hugh want to go back to another musical soon (albeit a stage musical) if his next movie release will be a major film musical?

I can't really see him as Bruce in Fun Home. I think Kevin Spacey would be pretty good in that part for a film.
Roles that he'd be great in:
Sweeney Todd
Ben in Follies
Fredrik in A Little Night Music
I just really want him to play a Sondheim part.

STONE in CITY OF ANGELS
He turned down the role in a film adaptation -- although I wish he would reconsider it now, if they decide to renew plans for a film version.
http://nypost.com/2008/05/02/wish-hugh-were-here/
The late Larry Gelbart was initially talking about another project...but he then mentioned about the aborted plans for CITY OF ANGELS :
>>Told about the new production yesterday, Gelbart said: “I was very pleased with the job I did, but we got left at the starting gate. Another dream shattered,” he added, laughing.
He thought Jackman would be “wonderful” in the role, adding: “We tried to interest him in doing the movie version of ‘City of Angels,’ but that didn’t work out. I have some wonderful scoops about things that didn’t happen.”<<

I like that, but can Kevin sing? Bruce's songs are deceptively difficult.
Edit: should have researched. Found this video. Don't think he demonstrated the range needed, but he sure can hold a melody.

Kevin can definitely hold a tune. Bruce's music isn't anything that he couldn't handle with assistance from a vocal coach.

I love this Idea! I would love to see Lincoln Center do this with him and a multicultural cast and a "refreshed " book. Heck, it was corny in the 50s but Alfred Drake made it work.
But it ain't happening ![]()

I think he would be an amazing Guido in Nine. Get a star Studded supporting cast and that would clean up at the box office.
