But reasons for Patrick not playing Raoul on stage wouldn't be because he can't do it. Patrick's a pretty classically trained stage actor, which is totally different from what we can say for Rosario.

Doesn't the feeling about who would make the best screen Mimi boil down to personal preference?
If Rueben-Vega no longer looked the part, the producers could have gone with someone like Marcy Harriell. But I'm sure the studios pushed for a more recognizable name.
