I have only seen the show a couple of times and never liked it, but now I will definitely be watching it regularly. I think it's time for me to get with the times and order Tivo...

It should be interesting to see how their relationship ensues on THE VIEW. Here's the quote from the Rosie article regarding Star:

By September, things will be very different, no doubt. But as someone said to me, doesn't Rosie have "issues" with Star's marriage, too? It ain't just about being a character in Stephen King's THINNER.
I actually think Rosie will be so deferential to Barbara, on days she's there, she'll be calm. But when Babs isn't in attendance, the dynamic will shift.

I heard this yesterday at ABC, but now that it's confirmed, there are a few items in Rosie's contract with ABC and Barwal Productions you might find interesting. 1) She can't cut her hair (short) without permission from management. 2) She doesn't get to sit in Meredith's chair. Rosie is apparently a little too big to sit on the end. The set will be reconstructed so that Rosie will sit in the middle.
Also, I hope there are more Broadway segments on "The View" in the future. They already have some, but more is always good. Rosie won't have much of a say-so about that though. That's up to Barbara (Walters) and the producers.

I love Ellen AND Rosie...I DO think having Rosie on the View will raise the ratings...and could better their chances of beating Ellen....although thats sad to me cause like i said..i like them both...
did anyone else notice on the daytime emmy's when barbara was making the announcement they cut to Ellen a couple of times and she just had the funniest look on her face. i wonder what she was thinking..."yeah right, like THIS will take away my Emmy chances...PLEASE" or "OH CRAP...This will take away my Emmy chances!" LOL!!! hahhaahah

I'm excited. Now other little fat girls can have someone successful that doesn't completely hate themselves for their weight like I did. Really, between that and the Broadway stuff when I was 11 I thought she was the bees knees.

TVboy I'd love to know if there is a "trial period" where she (O' Donnell) has to prove her worth in both ratings and value as a member of the team. Any inside goss?

Hey alterego... there is always a trial period. She'll be starting in September, but the real measure of her worth will come during the all important November ratings, which this year run from Nov. 2-29. (I'm sure it's during this time period they will showcase Rosie.) It will take Rosie a while to adjust to the show's format and learn how to "fit in." It will also take the audience some time to warm up to her. Afterall, this isn't the Rosie O'Donnell Show anymore. She's part of a team and must act as a team player.
The good thing is Rosie and Barbara are friends and respect each other. Rosie is already a well established host and a pro, but I'm sure Barbara will hold her hand and guide her along the way, making sure she is successful in this format.
I have no doubt she'll do just fine. :)
