Rosie O Donnell Fiddler On The Roof?

I got a FIDDLER ON THE ROOF playbill from a friend which listed Rosie O Donnell as Golde. Did anyone see her in the show and what did they think? I know how much you all just LOVE Rosie O Donnell!

She wasn't bad. She's not much of a singer--that we know--but she was invested in the role the night I saw her. She and Fierstein had zero chemistry, though (shocker).

I saw her, too. I thought she did well, but she wasn't anything spectacular. Just good. Harvey was the star of the show, of course. But at the stage door, she couldn't have been nicer. Stayed for almost an hour talking and taking photos with people. I talked to her alone for a good 10 minutes. Sweet woman.

I love Rosie's love of musical theatre and her endless plugging of it.

That said: She should never be in a musical EVER AGAIN!

I would love to see Rosie on Broadway again, but in a play. In a Gods of Carnage type show. I think that would be perfect for her.

AC126748 - What do you mean by they "had zero chemistry, shocker"'? Are you actually implying that gay actors can not play roles unless they're written as gay? Denying people jobs based on their sexuality is illegal, not to mention small-minded and bigoted. If you didn't care for their acting - fine. Implying their sexuality is to blame is not fine.

I had the misfortune of seeing her and Harvey. While O'Donnell was awful, she was completely overshadowed by the train wreck of Fierstein's performance. They truly ruined a show I love.

And you're saying it's because he was gay??? HOW DARE YOU! Harvey Fierstein is so masculin, he can pull off the butchness of Tevye! How dare you suggest that just because he's gay, he can't ACT Jewish????? Denying him a Tony based on that is ridiculous. Shame on you, Madbrain. Shame. Toni Braxton!!!

Harvey was suprisingly really good in the role. Rosie brought a lot of comedy to the show, she was brilliant in it. She was very funny, she sang well enough, and she had excellent chemistry with him.
