"...a good director ..."

Aye, there's the rub.

PRS, were you being sarcastic? The girl is not half bad.

"Well, wasn't Loudon a "star" when she did Annie."

No, Loudon was not a star when she did Annie. She was a working actress at the time, but her role in Annie gave her the exposure she needed.

The problem I have with Rosie is that she will make it about herself rather than the show or the joy of working in the theater. Whenever Rosie is in a show, it becomes about her.

I wasn't being sarcastic. I would prefer that girl to Rosie.

"Whenever Rosie is in a show, it becomes about her."

I've always gotten the impression that she did that consciously, because she knows it means publicity. But I've thought it was still in service of the show.

"I've always gotten the impression that she did that consciously, because she knows it means publicity. But I've thought it was still in service of the show."

No, it becomes about her. For example, when she stepped into Seussical, I saw an interview with her and she went on and on about how she doesn't do autographs for adults only for children and how she didn't have a good childhood. I would have rather heard her talk about Dr. Seuss or the show or anything other than her. I guess what I'm trying to say is that she is one of the more over-exposed actresses out there.

Do we know if they are going to hold with tradition and publicize an Annie, only to tell her she's fired and go through a tearful "I really wanted to be Annie."

No.

We can't use SJP because she actually got to play Annie. The cast must be made up of Annie rejects.

"The cast must be made up of Annie rejects."

I don't know why, but when I read that, the first thought that came to mind was: Molly Ringwald as Miss Hannigan.

Molly Ringwald can't carry a tune in a bucket, and she's a dead weight onstage. No thanks.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

At tonight's performance, the role of the orphan's bed will be played by Molly Ringwald.

What's interesting about that Rosie clip is it looks like just a showcase number for a cruise or something. It's not like it's a reflection of what she would be like in a full-scale revival with a director and choreographer and everything. To me, it looks like she just sort of threw a number together to have some fun. Honestly, I'd love to see Rosie as Miss Hannigan and I think a good director could get a fantastic performance from her.

They actually acted out the whole show with Andrea McArdle as Annie.

Rosie is too gruff for the role.

I wish Carol Burnett was still young enough to do the role onstage. I haven't watched the movie in quite some time, but I remember loving her performance in it when I was younger.
