Beautiful and very funny play and very happy to see it's coming back. With all the threads recently about "what are you surprised hasn't been revived" in major NYC production (at least as I'm aware) this is definitely rates.

I'm excited about this (Judith Light for either role, PLEASE!) but I worry this small play will get lost in a big theatre..

This play lends itself to some great possible casting. Judith Light would be f'n amazing.

The sisters are late 30's - early 40's. Judith will be 69 next year.

There's no reason Light couldn't play those roles.
But since Gwen Verdon played Ruth on the movie, let's have Chita play her in this revival!

We recently had a small production here in Chicago (with Deanna Dunagan as Ruth). It's long been a personal favorite but it felt a little dated, particularly the scenes with the doctor. I certainly think it's something that can be handled in by a swell director... but I was a little disappointed the play didn't feel like the perfect gem I remembered.

I'm confused why Roundabout is advertising it as a Broadway show for this season. If it's beginning previews next June, that effectively makes it a 2017-18 season debut.

Well it's part of their "season" that their subscribers have paid for, I believe.

Yes, that's exactly it. It's the final show to be announced of the 7 shows that are part of the full subscription package. Holiday Inn, Cherry Orchard, Love Love Love, If I Forget, The Price, Napoli Brooklyn & Marvin's Room.

I love the film version with Streep and Keaton. Keaton's final scene in the kitchen, where she talks about having so much love in her life, makes me sob audibly. I agree with others that Broadway could be too big for this.
