re: Roxies and/or Velmas You'd Like to See!?

"Actually, Kristin was considered for either Roxie or Mary Sunshine in the film."

Chenoweth was initially on a short list of about five people for Roxie but ended up only being considered for Mary Sunshine. She made it to the final two, but Marshall went with Christine Baranski instead.

In regards to Jane Krakowski-- she has been offered Roxie several times, but isn't interested in being a replacement at this point in her career (although I think she'd be wonderful in the role.) I have my fingers crossed she'll be coming in next season to play Dot/Marie in the "Sunday in the Park.." transfer if they don't bring over Jenna Russell.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Vanessa Williams is more of a Velma than a Roxie. She plays one perfect b*tch.

Kristin could definitely handle Roxie, the dancing isn't too demanding.

In some weird way I can see Barbara Walsh as Mama Morton. I think she'd be fierce as Mama. Though the role doesn't do all that much.

Oh, Barbara Walsh would make a scary Momma Morton, but still, she'd be an acid fest as Velma, it'd be ideal to watch her do "I Know A Girl" and "My Own Best Friend."
I figured Jane Krakowski must've been offered the role a trillion times, she's hot-ish right now and unless she's a big fan of Chicago or Kadner & Ebb I'm sure she isn't interested in replacing Tara Conner and playing opposite Smokey Robinson. Same with Megan Mullally. Both would make great Roxies though. Krakowski would be one of the sexiest Roxies the show has had.
Vanessa Williams would be a brilliant Velma, I dislike her in Into the Woods and no one can touch Chita's Spider Woman but I think she's quite a good actress and like ljay said, she knows how to play the bitch role.
I don't see Chenoweth as Mary Sunshine, Baranski seemed like a great show, Chenoweth feels too cute for Sunshine. She probably would've surprised me, she's a good actress, but it's hard to picture.

Maggie Gyllenhaal as Velma.

And, of course, Miss Kiki Durane...
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

Ruthiefan, I could talk about Jane Krakowski for the whole day and be a happy homo. She'd probably play up the sexiness of the role, that's why I'd love seeing her. Her "Funny Honey" would be so hot at the beginning, I can imagine all the sexual exuberance she'd add to the song.

I forgot to mention Christina Applegate.

I loved her as Charity, and I think Roxie would be perfect for her too.
"I just want a story and a few good songs that will take me away. I just want to be entertained. I mean, isn't that the point?"

Felicia Finley (can she dance?)

Yes, very much so. I wouldn't mind seeing that.

I would LOVE to see Bebe as Velma (since I never got to see her the first time).

re: Roxies and/or Velmas You'd Like to See!?

I'm sorry - but with all the celebrities doing Broadway roles now, why has nobody gotten Catherine Zeta-Jones to do a show? (Velma or otherwise?)

re: Roxies and/or Velmas You'd Like to See!?

Hugh Jackman turned down the role of Billy Flynn in the movie - he thought he was too young for the role. So we got Richard Gere.

Jane Krakowski as Roxie opposite Catherine Zeta-Jones or Felicia Finley as Velma.

That would be amazing.
