I didn't find a tthread on this so........
You can hear a preview of "You Can't Stop the Beat" and (what seems to be) the full version of "Run and Tell That" from the upcoming HAIRSPRAY film on the soundtrack's Myspace page. I think it sounds pretty good!

Thanks! It sounds so good. I can't wait.

i wanted to hear amandas solo in you can't stop the beat
and i hate how computerized nikki and, well zac has no excuse, but the computerized sound to their voices annoys me..but it sounds semi good.
"You Can't Stop" is certainly lively. Is there no solo for Amanda Bynes? or Travolta? or is this a (admittedly very good) cut and paste job?
The orchestrations are nice, not too Hollywood (although I miss the big ending...)
I love the beginning of Run and Tell That.
It all sounds so good, I like how the they have taken all the songs and adapted them to sound a bit differently than the musical so they are the same song, but there is a distinction between the movie songs and musical orchestrations
is there a reason that we NEVER get to hear Amanda Bynes's voice?? Seriously!
Loved it!! I'm thinking of attending a special preview in Arlington, Virginia on June 27th.
Yeah, I've been listening non stop since yesterday. If you listen, even Ladies Choice sounds different then the single release. A bit more polished. I like it.
All in all, they sound FANTASTIC. There is slight distortion due to the not so grand quality of the myspace player, but it still sounds good. I'm glad we still haven't heard YCSTB in its entirety. So, I don't feel as spoiled.
I understand wanting to build interest in Amanda and Brittany's singing voices but now I'm kind of ticked off. Unless their solos have been cut from the number, that pretty much leaves Amanda with a solo in "Without Love". Is her voice thin or inaudible or something? Then why cast her as Penny? This is just speculation and I'm definitely taking this too far, but we've heard almost the entire cast sing by this point. I will say this much though, the Little Inez in the movie sounds fierce! I much prefer her to the Broadway Little Inez. Run and Tell That sounds pretty great all around. Here's to hoping the rest of the movie sounds this good.
Hey, thanks for the link! It's good to know the music will be just as infectious in the movie!

OMG, I am practically jumping up and down. haha. Little Inez sounds AMAZING! wow. "Ladies Choice" is still my favorite so far. LOVE IT!!!
Although, I have to admit that it doesn't seem as energetic as the OBCR. But, I can't wait. WOOT!
That NAACP line is one of the best lyics in the whole show. What a sad day if that does not remain.
it's a saaaaaample.
This Little Inez is SOOOOO much better than the girl on the OBCR.
I heard Amanda sing on the Oprah special as it cuts to commercial you can hear like 2 seconds of her singing Without Love.

Tell 'em the truth, Mateo. Preach on.
I guess I like Nikki's voice but it seems kind of dull to me....... I know I'm problably in the minority but I miss Marissa's voice. From what I've heard so far, Marissa has a lot more energy in her voice than Nikki (Not saying she should have been cast in the roll though). I guess I'm bias because a good friend of mine was in the final group (and when I say final I mean it was between her, Nikki and another girl) of girls considered for the role of Tracy. But I'm sure she's great!
you can't stop the beat is definitely a sample. if you listen, it's all over the place. they cut and pasted a most of the song. that's why edna and penny's solos are not in it.
Does anyone else think Queen Latifah's voice lacks power in You Can't Stop the Beat?
^^I agree
seaweedjstubbs--I disagree. I like Nikki's voice SOOOO much better than Marissa.
The "Run and Tell That" is FANTASTIC. Loving it.
This gives me some hope for the movie.
^Yes. I know that a Broadway show has to be big and very energetic, but it seems like they are toning things down a bit too much.
Oh, and I've never heard the full version of "Ladies' Choice", and I really like it. Zac Efron has a good voice.
I agree with seaweedjstubbs, one of my favorite tings about the show is how much energy it has. From what i've seen of the movie, the energy level is really low
