If you've read her diary entries in "Hairspray: The Roots" then you will see that she actually worked on trying to find Tracy's voice. I guess when you get used to a person's voice, it's hard to hear someone else sing it. But like I said, I'm sure Nikki is still AMAZING in this role, just different.

What I said was that the VonTussle's aren't redeemed as much in the movie (which has also been mentioned in print magazines etc.) as they are in the musical.

I think Latifah sounds great. This is a movie, things can be subtle not big like stage acting. I'm sure she delivers. Many of us are glad it's not the same as "broadway."
Inez & Seeweed sounded really great, that song sounds better than in the show.

ladies choice is a great add on
and you cant stop the beat is as good as usual!
