" Its like the same exact dress only blue. I think the pink is better, it suits her character more. "

Not to mention pink dress bringing more irony to the line "You know black is this year's pink!" when Galinda hands Elphaba the hat.

Its like the same exact dress only blue. I think the pink is better, it suits her character more....

In the show now, Elphaba mostly wears blue and Glinda mostly wears white with the ensemble in some mix of the two colors...

I think I like the whole "Wizard and I" Reprise..I was watching the show and like you knew there wasn't going to be one, but you knew that there just should be right before she leaves to go to the Wizard or when she finds out she's going.

I saw both....
I think the biggest diffeerence between the 2 productions was that NY just seemed more polished. It was shorter, the minor changes people already mentioned (te color of the dress etc.) But the thing I noticed most was the ease of the performances. Everyone seemed to inhibit their role much better and Krisitn wasn't walking away with the entire show.-Although I do love how she does that

"I guess she is one very confident girl who feels if you see it, it shall be. I hope she sees a room with a piano player and a bunch of scary middle-aged queens sitting behind a table, talking to each other as she auditions!!" -Marc Shaiman on Kelly Osbourne in Hairspray

I saw Melissa Fahn at Broadway in the Park this summer. She was not good at all, she sounded like she was speaking the lyrics, not singing them. Blech.

"It's a great feeling of power to be naked in front of people. We're happy to watch actual incredible graphic violence and gore, but as soon as somebody's naked it seems like the public goes a bit bananas about the whole thing."

In the SF version 'No good deed' did have a little unlimited seciont in it... i believe it was something like 'unlimited, the damage is unlimited...' there is a clip of it somewhere...and its AWFUL. Idina-whom i love- is flat and all over the place vocally, but we all have our off days. The song is also at some crazy ass tempo.

No Good Deed ROCKS with the extra verse!! I love it. I wish they kept it for Bway.

I liked the extra lines Glinda had in the SF "Defying Gravity".. I don't remember exactly, but it was something like, "I hope you find people who understand you the way I've come to." It was a nice touch to her character.

SPOILER INCLUDED FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T SEEN THE SHOW

I read somewhere that the elevation of Elphaba into the air during Defying Gravity didn't happen in SF, or at least it happened in a different way -- how was it done in SF?

"What was the name of that cheese that I like?" "you can't run away forever...but there's nothing wrong with getting a good head start" "well I hope and I pray, that maybe someday, you'll walk in the room with my heart"

I though I heard somewhere that in SF, Idina wasn't raised on a platform like she is in NY, but insteard just ran a up a staircase or something...

If you look closely in the Wicked segment of the PBS Broadway sepecial, you can see that shes not lifted as she is in NY now...

For the record - Melissa's Glinda in Bryant Park was adorable, in my opinion. She's more than 100 times better than Stacie Morgain Lewis - and clearly, other than Walter O'Neil is the only other person to be with Wicked since the VERY beginning. She's won awards for her singing AND acting - not to mention is an extremely nice person. Don't **** with Melissa Fahn, thanks.

I have both scripts...they are pretty similar with some minor additions in songs in the san fran version AND of course, Which Way is the party?

Ugh, I was incredibly depressed to find out about (and fall in love with) Wicked after it left for NY (as I live in the SF area)

But something I heard was that in SF they tried the diamonds on Fiyero (from the book)for a bit, but it looked weird if you were too far away from stage. So they cut it.

That is from "One Short Day", I'm mad they took that line out for Broadway.

Elphie- I want to remember this moment always, because someday when we live here together, we'll have moments like this all the time
Glinda: We'll know absolutely everyone.
Elphie: Everyone will wish they were us!

*note* For Glinda's line I can't make out what she says before Everyone, it sounds something like "absolutely everyone".

But anyway.. I LOVE that dialogue, wish they kept it for Bway. I like it better than the "Nobody's pointing, nobody's staring" thing. Updated On: 1/15/05 at 11:58 PM

Melissa Fahn never went on as Glinda, from what I've heard.

And I loved her at Bryant Park. I think she would have been fabulous as Glinda. And I don't like Stacie Morgain Lewis at all.

In my opinion-about the "Unlimited" version, I think it's great because it shows kinda that things are getting out of control for Elphaba. I hope they are using it in the tour..I really like it.

Ohhhhh that explains the dress color change. I was so confused when I saw that because I saw the two pics with the pink dress and the blue one next to each other on the same page and figured they were both from the same show. I was like "How did she change taht dress so fast?" Haha ok well now that thats cleared up...:-P

GLINDA
You just had to show off didn’t you…
You just had to perform that wretched spell!
I hope you're happy!
I hope you're happy now
I hope you're happy how you
Hurt your cause forever
I hope you think you're clever!

ELPHABA
I hope you're happy
I hope you're happy, too
I hope you're proud how you
Abandoned our mission
To feed your own ambition

BOTH
So though I can't imagine how
I hope you're happy right now

GLINDA
Don’t be afraid…

ELPHIE
I’m not…
Its the Wizard who should be afraid…of me!

GLINDA
Elphie, Just say you're sorry:
You can have everything you ever wanted…
Elphie please…you can’t go against the Wizard of Oz

ELPHABA
I have to!
Something has changed within me
Something is not the same
I'm through with playing by the rules
Of someone else's game
Too late for second-guessing
Too late to go back to sleep
It's time to trust my instincts
Close my eyes: and leap!

It's time to try
Defying gravity
I think I'll try
Defying gravity
And you can't pull me down!

GLINDA
Can't I make you understand?
You're having delusions of grandeur:

ELPHABA
I'm through accepting limits
'Cuz someone says they're so
Some things I cannot change
But till I try, I'll never know!
Too long I've been afraid of
Losing love I guess I've lost
Well, if that's love
It comes at much too high a cost!
I'd sooner buy
Defying gravity
Kiss me goodbye
I'm defying gravity
And you can't pull me down:

Come with me….
Think of what we could do…together

Unlimited…
Together we're unlimited
Together we'll be the greatest team
There's ever been
Glinda…
Dreams, the way we planned 'em

GLINDA
If we work in tandem

BOTH
There's no fight we cannot win
Just you and I
Defying gravity
With you and I
Defying gravity

ELPHABA
They'll never bring us down!
Well? Are you coming?

GLINDA
Elphie…you’re trembling
Here put this around you
I hope you're happy
I hope you’re happy here
I hope you find somewhere
They understand you as I grew to
I hope you find it

ELPHABA
You too…

I hope you’re happy now that you’re choosing this
I hope it brings you bliss

BOTH
I really hope you get it
And you don't live to regret it
I hope you're happy in the end
I hope you're happy, my friend:

ELPHABA
It’s not her, she has nothing to do with it!
I’m the one you want,
Its me! Hahaha
Its me…Up here!
Its MEEEEE!
So if you care to find me
Look to the western sky!
As someone told me lately:
"Ev'ryone deserves the chance to fly!"
And if I'm flying solo
At least I'm flying free
To those who'd ground me
Take a message back from me
Tell them how I am
Defying gravity
I'm flying high
Defying gravity
And soon I'll match them in renown
And nobody in all of Oz
No Wizard that there is or was
Is ever gonna bring me down!

GLINDA
I hope you're happy!

CITIZENS OF OZ
Look at her, she's wicked!
Get her!

ELPHABA
:Bring me down!

CITIZENS OF OZ
No one mourns the wicked
So we've got to bring her

ELPHABA
Ahhh!

CITIZENS OF OZ
Down!
