This is tough.

GUYS AND DOLLS has the best material by far.

SHREK has the best cast.

LITTLE MERMAID has the most extravagant "production."

It depends on what you're going for.

It also features Norm Lewis half-naked, which is probably the reason Schmerg loves it so much.

Hey, I heard the cast recording before I had any clue what the man's costume looked like. I still pictured him as Inspector Javert with his coat buttoned up to his chin.

But in case you're curious, he's also covered in glitter.

Seriously, though-- I just love pretty much anything composed by Alan Menken, and the energy and dynamics of all of the songs, especially with the Broadway orchestrations. I find something new that I like in the orchestrations every time I listen to my CD. And while I can't speak for Faith Prince (I've never seen her in the role), I know the rest of the cast is a perfect fit.

I second that the glitter makes him look extra hot. re: SHREK, THE LITTLE MERMAID or GUYS AND DOLLS?

The Little Mermaid isnt the best show ever, but you should see it before Sierra leaves. It is a very good show, and its fun to watch, its not the kind of show you see many times, but it should be seen because Sierra Bogess is still in it and Alan Menken wrote the music. ALAN MENKEN IS SENSATIONAL!!!!

I would put any number of plays over those three choices.

I'd even put Hair and N2N MUCH higher on the list than what you have.

I would go to Guys and Dolls, however I am not a big fan of Disney musicals, and out of those three I have only seen Guys and Dolls but Guys and Dolls is a fun show to see! Either way you should have fun!

I saw the glitter and had to giggle to myself when I saw Mermaid. But I'm not complaining!

kchenofan's computer is broken right now. This is her fridge. Now, you can leave a message, but say it slowly, so I can write it on a post-it note and stick it to myself.

The Little Mermaid for sure. Great production, story, and score. it's cheesy, but I was entertained.

I would vote for Shrek out of the three you listed.

But if you are willing to see a play, there a lot of really great ones out right now and I would advise you to take a chance on one of them!

SHREK is the most expensive musical of all time on broadway right now, and its pretty spectacular set costumes and effects.

PLUS anything with Sutton foster should be higher on the list than the bottom 3.

The biggest of the three is Shrek.

Well,

Almost nobody talks about "Guys and Dolls" here - I think I should avoid this one, right?

Some advice "The Little Mermaid" - saying it's camp, cheesy, but it has good songs and it's entertaining. People who said I should skip this one looks like they really didn't see "The Little Mermaid".

Some people said I should see "Shrek" because of the cast and the production. The book and music are forgetable...

The best advice is to see a play. I know this. But, in this trip to NY, I really want to see only musicals. Shame on me. :)

Out of that list, Guys and Dolls. It's classic.

For fun, and you know I would say it, I would go to Rock of Ages!
