Cablevision hasn't updated their "OnDemand" since Opening Night

We must have different Gods. My God said "do to others what you would have them do to you". Your God seems to have said "My Way or the Highway".
I think they have clearly signalled since the start of Season 2 that they were echoing the story of RENT. The inclusion of Jesse and Daphne, the poster, hell, they even refered to Hit List being like RENT. Plus they have acknowledged it in interviews.
I really don't see the issue with this at all, as has been pointed out this kind of thing is done all the time in movies and tv, why should it be any different here. Personlly I think it has been a great homage to RENT and Johnathan Larson. I have loved noticing all the little RENT references throughout. And I think its great that it might bring the story of JL and RENT to people who didn't know it or remind them of it. As a result of the show I have spent time looking at RENT clips on YT and listening to the soundtrack, something I haven't done in a long time. I also told the story of JL to my niece who didn't know of it. So I really don't see the issue with it. Presumably Jesse L Martin and Daphne Rubin Vega knew where the story was going and didn't have issue with it. I gotta say when Jesse was talking to Derek about whether the show should go ahead and he said it should to honour Kyle that brought a tear to my eye (yes, I am a sap!) as he must have been through that for JL.
I think Derek said they could use the music stands to help Sam....plus it looked good, so why not!! :)
I didn't have any problem with the Rent/Larson references; it's been 17 years and has now settled comfortably into romanticized Broadway lore. It was tragic and touching, and still is. But come on -- the wounds aren't exactly fresh anymore, and it's part of theater history & legend now...
My issue is the fact the show has referenced Rent (including the prominent poster) -- so in the universe of Smash, Rent does/did exist -- yet nobody on the show ever outwardly draws the parallel.
I don't care if they parallel the Rent backstage story, or rename "The Hit List" "Rent 2"!
I wanna know why Jennifer Hudson wasn't nominated for "The Wiz"!
"Carson has combined his passion for helping children with his love for one of Cincinnati's favorite past times - cornhole - to create a unique and exciting event perfect for a corporate outing, entertaining clients or family fun."
She quit The Wiz, did she not? She didn't want to be America's Broadway Sweetheart anymore and instead chose to do a concert for one night. I'm assuming the deal for the revival fell apart once they lost her.
Well after her concert they said that the producers of the wiz wanted to talk, which I interpreted as she was gonna go back, but she wasn't going to be forced to play it quite so good little girl as she was before! Also I don't think she ever got nominated for mama makes three was she?
In 1996, the only people who had cell phones were drug dealers and douchebags. And the sunglasses didn't help, either. He was in a theater, how bright could it be? Douchebag.
