PLEASE post here if you know of any special snow deals for shows on Wednesday!
If anything snow day deals are going to be for tomorrow and Tuesday.
By Wednesday, the city will be clear. The mayor's future depends on this.

I am so looking forward to snow day specials! I really hope the mayor doesn't shut down the subways, though. I can understand the buses but in my experience living 30 years in NYC, the elevated and subterranean subways tended to run better during blizzards. If I can get a good price I hope I can at least get home after the show!
yeah, any deals will be for Tuesday. I'd expect the tri-state to be shut down for most of Tuesday. It might actually be easy to get a ticket to The Book of Mormon.

What kind of deals normally happen on big storm nights? Do they just try to fill the house?
Roundabout often offers seats for $20, but you have to show your MetroCard (I guess to discourage people coming in from outside the city)
On a big snow day last year I got a rush ticket for Pippin at 1pm (2pm show), seat location was originally box, but Since the theatre was only about 30% full we were all moved to great center orchestra seats.

If it's big enough, they may shut down Broadway...it's happened before...the cast and crew need to be able to get to work as well.

Yes, and quite a few live in New Jersey or Connecticut. Although I would think they might have reacted proactively and taken nearby hotel rooms or made plans to stay with friends.
Yeah something I am itching to do - trudge through mountains of snow to save money on a show. Can you spell addiction boys and girls? Not me. Staying in my nice warm apartment with the Mrs.
Have fun .

If the MTA is running, Broadway is running. That's the way it always has been.
plus the blizzard is expected to be mostly done by noon on Tuesday.
Cuomo just announced limited closing of subway tonight and DITTO for LIRR. Path to go on weekend schedule.
You know it will be bad when mail delivery stopped. Our mail person texted my wife telling her she told not to come in tomorrow.
Total system shutdown for Tuesday may be announced after 11 PM tonight.

Its Only A Play has a Facebook offer for buy one get one free mezz tickets for tomorrow evening and the matinee on wednesday.
It will not do you much good if you live in an outer borough and cannot get home
Think about it. Is it really worth it? I do not understand the obsession.
I know someone who basically has no life outside of Broadway. He would go to Staten Island if someone were reading Macbeth on a park bench saying it is theater. He lives, eats, breathes theater to the height of unhealthy obsession. Nothing else matters. I enjoy it though not as much as I used to. I was never obsessed with it to this point. I do not get the elevation of performers to status of a Greek God either.
SHOWS CANCELLED TONIGHT!

Tomorrow may be the same while the city digs out and they restart the transit system. Wednesday should be Ok but slow. Bad news is more snow Thursday night into Friday morning.

Mr Roxy, there are those of us on limited budgets who would like to see many shows a year. We have to rely on deep discounts or special days when we can get $20 tickets. Sorry if that spells obsession to you but to some of us it's just the way it has to be to enjoy theater. As a NYC teacher, single mother of child with autism, I can't afford Book Of Mormon tickets. Would love a chance to see it cheaply. And we live in Queens near the subway. Stop judging.
Well said, delongpre.
He's also on TDF, so he has more options than most re: cheap tickets, so he should shut the **** up a bit.
I understand limited budgets. As a matter if fact, the majority of shows we see are on discounted tickets
Obsession is killing yourself and jumping thru hoops during emergencies like this. You know that discounted tickets are always available. The party I spoke about previously has the money but he is obsessed to the point of ridiculousness. If I were in your position and I saw that getting to and home from a show would present a real problem, I would think twice. If however, you wish to move heaven & earth to see a show under these circumstances, go for it. It is not for us is all I am saying. A show was never that important to me & less so now. I apologize if you misunderstood my post. It was not directed at you or others in your situation
We live close to the subway also. If the trains are not running this fact is rather meaningless. My wife and I have to walk down to the subway and in this weather it aint happening. Bottom line is if the subway shuts down you will not get into the city plain and simple.
Give it a rest. I've done the snow day special tickets before and never had an issue getting home. If the subways are running, it's usually fine.
Ok.To each his own.
I do believe the MTA is starting to shut everything tonight.

So let's start over. By 7pm Tuesday the snow should be over and the subway should be running again.
Anyone know of any discounts for those who can get there?
At 7:01 the trains will be running. The trains have to be brought out of the storage yards and the system itself has to be started up again. It is not just flipping a switch and all is back to normal. My guess is Wednesday we will have a semblance or normalcy. If others want to think all will be right as rain for Tuesday, they are entitled to their opinion. We will all find out about it on the news.
