I have never in my life seen a more bitter, nasty catty group of people on a board!! Complain and bi--- about performers all the time. Unless you have been on Broadway performing 8-9 shows a week you have no reason to judge these performers who give their all when they perform! I very much doubt all of you give your all at work. MY GOD the performers all support eachother and root for eachother but these fans? PATHETIC!!! Reading these posts from all these nasty vicious people ruins Broadway for those who really enjoy it!!
Man, it ain't even nominations day yet.

We're allowed to spell out bitch here, bitch.
I will say I love the irony that Ben Brantley (and most critics today) are harsh towards the majority of shows, the people on these boards are harsh towards the majority of shows, but if someone like Morgan James tweets she didn't like a production, people go insane about how people don't support the arts.
Adam Pascal, we all know it's you.
Sorry, but your cover of Not a Day Goes By sucks ass.

Who on Broadway does nine shows a week?
Methinks the Ladyice doth protest too much.
Me-also-thinks the Ladyice is the biggest bitch of us all.

Well, when they do Actors Fund benefit shows that sometimes makes the show count for the week jump to 9. When I saw the Addams Family Actors Fund performance Jackie Hoffman threw in some very funny business about it being the 9th show. :)

So this is obviously the only board you've ever been to.

It's always so cute when we get this topic. It reminds me that theatre actors are never catty or back-biting and only say positive things about each other and their shows. It's completely and totally true! Because they work harder than any of us, no matter what we do, they share a single communal positive opinion of everything and are no longer shackled to individual thoughts. As Christian Grey explained to Anastasia Steele, it's actually quite liberating. They no longer have to think or analyze any more because they already all feel the same way about everything. If we could just eliminate freedom of speech, we could all be as blissfully ignorant and delusional as theatre actors. Except Ladyice. She could have found other ways to get her message across without sounding so bi---y and hateful. But it's comforting to know that she's a better human being than any of us. It really is.

I disagree that most critics are harsh towards a "majority" of shows. And it's hard to say that people here are as well. It's just that many love the anonymity that allows them to troll with greater frequency and immaturity. If you weed out the attention-seekers, it's not that bad.
Are Broadway actors their own special cult then? Who's the leader and is it able to compete with Scientology?
The funny part is that in actuality this board has been overflowing with effusive praise for so many of the performances this season.
So the OP is not only a little crazy, but they are apparently a lot illiterate.
Because I care so deeply about the plight of the illiterate I would like to offer the OP the following link:

Would people recommend other blogs for Broadway shows that they like. I also read All That Chat but wondered what is else is out there that people find useful. Thanks
Ladyice:
Do you willfully ignore all of the positive posts on here? Because there are boatloads. But positive posts mean nothing if they are not accompanied by negative posts, because then there is no context. Being a fan doesn't mean being supportive of everything; it means being honest and objective. Otherwise it is meaningless and brainless.
"Giving one's all" is not the measure of a Broadway performer: that's for high school. Yes, actors are (usually) supportive of one another but the truth is a director who gives an actor trenchant notes is being a helluva lot more supportive tha a fellow cast member giving you hugs and kisses.
But positive posts mean nothing if they are not accompanied by negative posts, because then there is no context.
You're talking nonsense! Actors work hard enough without having to be burdened with context. Or truth.
Being a fan doesn't mean being supportive of everything.
Can't you read?!?! Ladyice already defined it for us. We have been told what we are allowed to say and you are breaking the law. You now have to watch a community theatre production of Cats starring Susan Anton as Grizabella and then tell us in great detail how much you loved every number and why.
"Welcome to the theatre, to the magic, to the fun
Where painted trees and flowers grow, and laughter rings fortissimo
And treachery's neatly done.
Now you've entered the asylum, this profession unique
actors are children playing hide-and-ego-seek.
So welcome, Miss Eve Harrington, to this business we call show.
You're on your way to wealth and fame
Unsheathe your claws, enjoy the game
You'll be a witch but they'll know your name from New York to Kokomo
So welcome to the theatre, my dear, you'll love it so!
Welcome to the dirty concrete hallways
Welcome to the friendly roaches, too
Welcome to the pinches form the stangehands, it's the only quite thing they do!
Welcome to PHiladelphia critics
Welcome to Librium and Nembutal
Welcome to a life of laryngitis
Welcome to dark toilets in the hall
Welcome to the plot you thougth would run for years.
Welcome to a world of fears and cheers and tears.
So, welcome to the theatre with some luck you'll be a pro.
you'll work and lsave and scratch and bite
You'll learn to kill with sheer delight
You'll only come alive at night, when you're in a show.
So welcome, to the theatre-you fool, you'll love it so!"
LadyIce you joined yesterday, it's been all lovey dovey in here lately.

I think we can all agree things do get a little testy at times, with most every thread getting hijacked by some weird bickering for a page or two, but hey, that's a message board. At least a good portion of the time, things stay (relatively) constructive. Maybe the newbie just got caught up in one of those threads...
I'm sure this is Philly---so Hi again.
'Everyone has the right to be stupid--some just abuse the privilage'.
'Let's not remove all the stupid people--just remove all the labels off everything'.
Ladydice, it's pretty surprising to me that you joined this board yesterday just to post that dribble. I mean, have you been lurking all this time in order to form your generalization, reading post after post just for the fun of it? Or did you read one post recently that just set your hair on fire.
The truth is that this board contains all sorts of people who post all sorts of things. Some are very well thought out and articulated, some are pitifully stupid and cringe worthy. Some are cruel, as you say, and others are kind. This makes BWW just thte same as pretty much any chat board.
So Ladydice, welcome to BWW. Maybe we'll see you again, as you will continue to be free to post your opinions, hopefully on things that are theater related. But I suspect your tenure here might have ended already.
Golden Boy wrote a scathing review on Gigi, this sounds like a Gigi person? My guess.
