They're going through the School of Rock routine with this one.

I'm thrilled. The songs were so much fun and everyone sounded fantastic. Can't wait for this!

Anyone know when this is coming to Broadway?

I hope they cut the rap and rock concert songs. The Bowie songs wasn't bad, but it really didn't fit in well with the show (and was the only song not specifically written for the show). And the whole plotline leading to the Super Starfish song needs to go. It doesn't work at all.
The rap song was hilarious. My friend and I were howling.
After Beauty and the Beast's OBCR, I rather them do it after they open on Broadway.. Ugh, but whatever.

I really thought they'd go the concept album route, and do that before it goes to Broadway. It would be cool to see all the artists sing their own songs, but I wonder if they'll do something similar to fun home where they updated some songs from the CAst recording once they went to Broadway.
The Plankton hip-hop number got a great response when I saw it.

"What was your grief with the "Beauty and the Beast" OBC? Other than the lyric changes in "Home" and the reprise of "If I Can't Love Her"?
I prefer the album's lyrics to Home. I didn't see it on Broadway but when we did it at my high school Hime only had one verse then the bridge, is that how it was on Broadway?
i also wanted a concept album for this, I'm surprised we haven't heard about one.

I just reread the Broadwayworld article about this, and I realized they aren't going to release this until it comes to Broadway. I was under the impression they would release it before they get to Broadway, but I might be the only one who thought that.
" "We are incredibly excited to capture this show with this cast right after our run in Chicago this summer," said co-conceiver and director Tina Landau and orchestrator, arranger and music supervisor Tom Kitt. "We look forward to releasing the album when this cast brings The SpongeBob Musical to Broadway." "

I haven't heard any of the songs from this yet but I've heard so much good things about the musical. Kind of disappointed that the Cast album won't be coming out until after the show's Broadway premiere though, even though they're recording it beforehand. What exactly would be the reason for doing that?
In any case, I'm really excited for this show. I've heard nothing but good things from Chicago, and once it does hit Broadway I'll have to definitely try to find room in my budget to make another NYC trip to go see it.

It was announced this week that Nick Blaemire (who played Plankton in Chicago) is heading off Broadway with Tick Tick Boom this season. I wonder if he's done with Spongebob...or if this gives a hint off the ultimate timing for Broadway. Tick Tick's run is finished by mid-November. http://www.broadway.com/buzz/185649/nick-blaemire-will-headline-tick-tickboom-off-broadway-keen-companys-season-to-also-include-courtney-baron-world-premiere/
I don't know if there's a definitive date for Spongebob's arrival on Broadway, so it's entirely possible Nick will wrap Tick, Tick, Boom before Spongebob begins. Emmy Raver-Lampman is now a part of the Chicago company of Hamilton, so I assume she will not be joining it on Broadway (although she did leave the Broadway company for the pre-Broadway Chicago run).
Well if rumors of the transfer happening in February are true, doing a show that ends in mid-November shouldn't be a big deal. Good for Nick, not wasting any time.

Emmy could just be leaving the Hamilton chi production early, which I hope doesn't happen, because I'm supposed to be seeing in February and would love to see her perform again, even if it's in the ensemble.
Any updates?
So, the whole thing is dead pretty much?
