Yes, these are the box office opening hours.
Shows will allocate a certain number of seats (or in same cases, whatever they have left in certain sections like rear mezz or orch extreme side) to rush and begin selling those when the box office opens. If fewer people buy those tickets than what they have available they will continue to sell them throughout the day right up until curtain.
With shows not selling out it's not unusual that you're able to get rush tickets later in the day.
Rushed Sunset yesterday (Friday, 5/12). Arrived at 8:40 and was first in line. The line didn't reach more than 8 people by the time the box office opened at 10.
Offered the tiers as previously reported. We went for the $55 rear mezz seats to avoid the Palace's awful balcony. Totally worth the $13 upgrade. We were only slightly off center and had a great view! The person behind us purchased a $99 orchestra seat that was in row H, slightly off center.
My boyfriend and I both did the lotto for the Wednesday matinee and we both won (which made me feel bad since we only needed one pair of tickets). Tickets are center orchestra row F. AMAZING seats and an AMAZING show. My boyfriend, who didn't even know the show (I didn't either) and didn't know who Close was, thought it was his favorite show of the trip (we saw A Doll's House, this, Dolly and Comet).
I rushed in March at about 2:00 and got 3 rear mezz tickets for about $50 each. The seats were a steal.
Rushed this morning and got to the box office around 11:30. Got a 99.00 rush ticket in the Orchestra - E 118! SOO Excited to see this show!!!!!

I rushed on sunday, 5/14 and arrived to the theatre about 2:20 prior to the 3pm matinee. I received a $42 rush ticket, mid mezz, center.
It was my second time seeing the show ao I did not mind being a little farther up. Intermission i moved down a few rows.
How early do people typically start lining up before the box office opens? I would DIE for one of those center orchestra tickets for $99. Sunset has been my favorite musical of all time since I was an 8th grader in 1995, and my older friend in high school went to NYC to see Betty Buckley in it and brought me back the American Premiere Recording. I was going to buy from Ticketmaster until I checked this thread and saw people were getting great seats for less than $100. I'm planning on rushing one day while I'm the city the week of memorial day.
Also, forgive me if this has already been covered. Has anyone stage doored for this show? Does Glenn ever come out?
To answer people's questions: As stated, I rushed this morning. I got there at around 11:30 and the box office was empty- if there had be a line, it was gone by the time I got there. My seat in Row E was incredible! Could not have asked for a better seat! and a complete steal for 99.00!
-They Offered three prices levels, one for each tier for rush.
- I did stage door tonight, everyone came out and signed BUT Glenn. We were told that she comes out pretty regularly though. The stage door guys told us to try another day. Lance Roberts who is in the ensemble mentioned that Glenn was battling a sinus infection so that's probably why she didn't come out.
I rushed today (Wed) around 2pm and they still had all 3 rush options available. I went with the $55 for rear mezz and ended up with M127, which was a perfectly good seat for the price.
I really enjoyed it and it just sounds incredible with the full orchestra! I wish every show could sound that lush.

Would appreciate any RUSH report for this week, being that it's so close to the Tony's. Coming with gal friend from California to enjoy my birthday weekend, would sure be nice to score some face value tickets for Hello Dolly and rush tickets for Sunset Boulevard! ANY TIPS APPRECIATED!!
