Are there certian parts of musical numbers that make you cry/get emotional? I would have to say mine would be from Les Miserables; when Fantine says: "What can I do? It pays a debt. 10 francs may save my poor Cossette!" in Lovely Ladies

What about you?

"I Know The Truth" from AIDA
and "Distant Melody" from PETER PAN.

I cried when I saw "All For You" at the end of the song in SEUSSICAL, but only when I saw it live. Cast Recording doesn't make me cry at all.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

"Come with me
Where chains will never bind you
All your grief
At last, at last behind you
Lord in Heaven
Look down on him in mercy
Forgive me all my trespasses
And take me to your glory
Take my hand
And lead me to salvation
Take my love
For love is everlasting
And remember
The truth that once was spoken
To love another person
Is to see the face of God"

Plus it is just so gorgeous musically. I truly lose it every time I hear it. I'm tearing up right now. I'm such a dork :)

During "See Me" from BARE

CLAIRE
"Peter, please I can't solve all your problems."

PETER
Mother you know nothing of them
And I'm not expecting you to find solutions
Just to be my mom, and my friend."

Also from BARE, during the title song.

PETER
The act is beginning, the audience awaits...

JASON
But stay in this moment where secrets reveal
Here in a world where there's safety in falsehood
I have discovered the one thing that's real-
That I love you and I loved you from the start
And if you hold that close to you we'll never be apart

*tear* Amazing lyrics and melodies.

Jess, I agree with that one. The harmony with Eponine is beautiful on that part of the finale!

I always cry no matter if I am listening to the cd or watching my recording of Into the Woods whenever it gets to No One is Alone I lose it for the rest of the show! It is really sad I mean I really truly crymy eyes out! Also when I went to see Wicked I was crying at For Good because that song has a lot of hiden meaning with myslf and a friend of mine and it always gets me teary eyed and seeing it performed live made it so powerful!

The part of the Les Miz finale that Jess said always gets me...and when the chorus quietly starts to sing "Do you hear the people sing lost in the valley of the night?..." and when the principals join in and the dynamics increase at "Will you join in our crusade?"...that whole song gets me. Also during "One Day More"...."Tomorrow we'll discover what our god in heaven has in store. One more dawn, one more day. One day more"

Also...in the finale of Wicked when Glinda sings "Who can say if I've been changed for the better..?" and Elphaba joins in. That part always brings me to tears...if I'm not there already.

I've got to stop reading this thread. You guys are making me cry and I'm not even listening to any of them (singing them though...)

On the sampler CD, 'See Me' from Bare gets me everytime. Michael Arden does a great job of showing his emotion with his voice.

Also, the reprise of 'I'll Cover You' still gets me. I try to sing along, but sometimes I can't finish the song... lol

I totally was going to say "I'll Cover You" reprise. I can't take it! I cry everytime. Poor Angel re: Sad parts of musical numbers? When Collins says "It's over" at the end of "Contact" that's when it hits me hard.

I KNOW I'm gonna get made fun of but I think the end of "Fantasies Come True" is pitiful!!! Plus, all of Les Mis and the end of "If I can't Love her"- B&B

I definitely agree with the finale of Wicked, when Glinda and Elphaba both sing. It aften makes me cry just listening to the cast recording. So does all of For Good. Also, No More, No One is Alone and the Finale of Into the Woods are very sad and touching songs. So is Empty Chairs at Empty Tables.

BroadwayGirl107-Who is your picture of? My sister and I have a bet because we are in disagreement about who it is.

In RENT, during "Another Day" when the Life Support group starts to sing with Mimi, while the lights flash on them and they do the "lean".... it makes me cry.
