Does anyone know when Santino Fontana’s last show is? Someone told me it was tonight, but I can’t find anything about it. I want to tat least ry to see him in it before he departs.

I like him. But he is bland in this show. Don’t beat yourself up if you miss him in this.

Why would he leave on a Saturday?
Just read your post, DAME. I thought it was just me. I liked him OK, but this was my first exposure to Mr. Fontana and I had heard he was wonderful in other shows so I was looking forward to seeing him. His voice is fine but I did find him lacking. To the point that I didn’t understand why the producers didn’t just leave the understudy on until Gavin Creel returned. There must have been a reason. I thought his scene before It Only Takes a Moment went on too long, as if he was doing the Dolly eating scene. Anyway, I look forward to Creel’s return.

I disagree, I saw him in it this week and thought he was wonderful. His voice sounds so beautiful on this score and I loved his acting in the role. I previously saw Gavin Creel and was more charmed by Santino.
Don't get me wrong; I love Santino! and...
I know he had BIG shoes to fill, but he is woefully miscast in Dolly!
He is an incredible guy and great performer (ranging from his higher profile stuff in Cinderella and Crazy Ex Girlfriend to Mr Rosewater)...that being said...let's hope Tootsie is a BIG hit!
Does anyone know how Gavin is doing and is he coming back?

"and Gavin Creel (returning to the show Tuesday, May 8)"
I loved Santino in it. I found him more modern and natural whereas Gavin is more old fashioned and goofy like in the movie.
Modern in a time period piece doesn't sound good to me. And I though Gavin was nothing like Crawford.

No. It wasn’t just you. Gavin’s understudy has been so wonderful it boggles the mind that they just didn’t give him a chance and let him do it. Shame.

I agree, I found Mr. Creel absolutely charming in the role. Michael Crawford, on the other hand, is totally revolting in the film.

What movie?
I saw the show on Thursday night, and Santino was ok. I would love to have seen Christian Dante White as Cornelius. He has the most beautiful tenor voice. I'm seeing HD again tonight.

Gavin Creel was fantastic in Hello Dolly! Michael Crawford was a joke.
Fontana’s work in CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND was genius. But he does seem like an odd fit for this role. Christopher Dante White was superb when I saw him the night before Bernadette Peters’ official opening night. He was probably the only replacement who didn’t make me miss the actors I had originally seen the previous times I saw the show (Murphy, Hyde Pierce, Creel, and the incomparable Beanie Feldstein).
