I'm a fan of Luis Fonsi and had his greatest hits album on constant rotation when I was in college 10 years ago... pre-Despacito.  That being said I agree with you, that he is a weird choice for this. 

I guess they just want ratings? or a new audience?     

I still wish Lady Gaga and Adam Lambert were involved in this production somehow.

Riedel says nothing of the sort in the article.  He says Webber is interested and essentially putting out a feeler.  That's it.

I'm an unapologetically ardent ALW fan, but I do wish he'd stop pursuing pop stars (e.g., Leona Lewis, Nicole Scherzinger, et al.,) for musical theatre. There are more than enough studio-created and auto-tuned "singers" on the radio and TV; I wish we could leave musical theatre to those who can really sing.

Adam Lambert confirmed on twitter he will not be Judas.   Bummer.  Probably didn't work with his Queen tour dates.

Does Dixon have the range for Judas? (Not that the question is particularly important; I mean, John Legend quite plainly can't sing the part of Jesus.) Another possibility is that he's one of the other roles or a producer of the project; he does have Of Mice and Men and Hedwig under his belt.

I'm skeptical of his range. I hope he proves me wrong. Also, nothing against him, but I was hoping for a bigger name.

This link says Norm Lewis is in it. Which one is right???

What's confusing? BVD is Judas, Norm Lewis is Caiaphas.

It had his character's name from Scandal.

He will be phenomenal, and, yes, he DOES have the range.

eek is right...I had no idea how thin his voice was until I heard this. It's a good thing they have such a strong group of Broadway voices in the other roles and the ensemble. They are going to have to carry the show.
