Oh my god Sara farted. No way! The scandal! The outrage!

I can't imagine her not farting in that red dress... It probably squeezed out some other stuff too.

Sara cuts the cheese with alarming frequency.

Okay, I guess I missed the farting thing.
She's only human, and it's only gas.

It may be only gas to you, but what about the rest of us?

With those boobs, she can fart in my presence any day.

That would explain a lot CKeaton

Wickedrent, I don't know who said that at the Kennedy Center about Merman, but that is not completely correct. She took time off to go to her daughter's graduation in Colorado. She got to the airport and the plane ended up being so late that she got a cab went to the theatre and did the Gypsy matinee. I doubt if Ramirez with her sniffles would have done that.

""People went to see her (Merman) they don't go to see Sara." I'm sure there were many audience members at the performance after the Tonys who DID want to see her. Not that she is Merman. But then who on B'way is Merman? Let's compare Shoshana Bean (whoever the hell that is) to Merman. Thenardier, would you like me to compare YOU to Merman now? Also, I think you missed the theatrical allusion in my post."
No, nmartin, I'm saying there is no reason why we have to compare past legends to the stars of today. Whenever someone says, "Oh, Idina's voice is soar because of singing Wicked," someone always has to reply, "Well MErman never got soar and belted without a mic."
I am just saying, get over it. Those days are gone. Also, Merman is ten times the star Sara is. You'd be happy to be seeing MErman live. If you saw Sara sick, it'd be quite disappointing (though not as disappointing as Spamalot itself).

Actually, didn't the Merm burst a blood vessel in her throat during GYPSY and missed a few performances? I believe those were the only times she ever missed a show.

What a b*tch. Mary Martin broke both legs, lost her voice, and bled from the nose - but still, she flew in Peter Pan.

Anyone who saw Merman live will never get over it! I never have.
You need to get over your defensive attitude towards people who actually saw REAL theatre.

How, on "L. Ron Hubbards green earth" did this turn into a Merman appreciation post?
Sara is a wonderful performer and a sweet woman.
Ethel Merman was and is a legand, there's really no comparing the two.

About Boy From Oz, let me reiterate by saying that the Producers of the show did not want the understudy to go on - so if Hugh had called in sick, there would have been no performance that night.
"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive.
"Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot."
"No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one."
Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

"There is really no comparing the two." Diva, that was my point from the start before I got cyber-attacked by some hatchet-wielding Joan Crawford wannabe starring in Strait-Jacket.

She's sick. It happens. When she feels better, she'll be back in the show.

She's obviously just an ego-driven
DIVA
and she should be FIRED immediately and replaced with a real STAR name! (What's Carol Channing doing these days?)

Was she really back in the show tonight?? Is that possible that she got better so quick?

"If you saw Sara sick, it'd be quite disappointing (though not as disappointing as Spamalot itself)."
O no no no, it's much more disappointing seeing Sara's understudy in the already disappointing show. Darlene is just terrible and probably made me dislike the show even more than I would have if Sara were in it.
But, eh, whatever, Sara's sick. It probably took a lot of energy to perform at the Tonys on Sunday, energy that should have been used to recover. So cut her some slack. She'll return to the unfortunate show eventually.
