Ahh good for her. Those damn audience members don't matter. Glad she saved her voice all week.
Hope she gets the UPN show she's always wantned.

Posted: 6/6/05 at 12:36pmI truly hope her voice has recovered. She sounded fine last night, but she should never, ever wear a strapless gown for two obvious reasons. Meow.

Posted: 6/6/05 at 12:40pmMr Tuttle, are you being so stupid on purpose or is it your natural mean spirited state? Singing ONE song that is an ensemble number ONCE on TV is hardly likely to harm her voice and she could just about get through it without too much trouble. Going full tilt at 8 shows without being fully recovered for those audience members you speak of would ruin her voice and her health.

Posted: 6/6/05 at 12:43pmI thought the gown was goregeous and she looked beautiful, even if she had trouble keeping it up. We wouldn't want another Janet Jackson incident

For someone who had to take a week and a half off, I'm so glad she recovered just in time to sing on the Tonys.
And here's poor Kelli O'Hara who sings a score one million times more demanding and who's never missed a show.

and I love the innocent "opps..this dress doesn't hold my X" thing.
Like she never wore a dress like that or had a clue that would happen.
Guess J Lo had a garage sale.

I'm sorry to revive an old thread, but I can't believe the ignorance of some of you.
To begin with, there is no comparision at all between Sara's illness and the fact that Chenoweth decided half-way into the run that she was too good to show up for work. If you remember, Chenoweth missed many, many performances before the nominations came out. However, she was there once voting hit full swing. Additionally, she was missing performances to do other projects-not just because she was sick or injured. The fact that Sara was sick during the weeks of Tony voting is a pretty clear indication that she was "pulling" nothing and just happened to be ill.
Mr. Tuttle, has it occured to you that the producers and creative staff were the ones who chose which number "Spamalot" would perform? It wasn't Sara. The people in charge wanted to highlight her to advertise the show on national television. I have little doubt that she was instructed by the producers to do what she had to do in order to be well enough to show up for the Tonys. Additionally, if you're, for lack of a better word, stupid enough to believe that performing in a five minute presentation at an awards show is as vocally draining as full production, you're really not worth debating with.
I wonder how many of you who believed that Kelli deserved the award have actually seen "The Light in the Piazza." While she sang the part well, I didn't think that she was believable as a woman with a ten year old's mental capacity. Of the nominees, I would have ranked her last.

That's the beautiful thing about art. It's subjective. And every petty-minded person who sees it is allowed to formulate an opinion, whether it's popular or not.
If Sara's performance does something for you, then good for you. If Kelli's performance does something for you, then good for you also. But when you're asking a small group to pick ONE performance from so many, you can't possibly please everyone.
