Yikes. Well it certainly couldn't help her to get votes, that's for sure.

She was out when I saw the show in previews (she missed over a week with a cold or vocal problems, I believe).

Oh, dear. She must *really* be sick to be missing performances at this particular time. Can't believe she's a very happy camper about it.

This could cost her some votes, but at this point, I'd say she's a damn near shoe-in for that Tony.

I would say most of the votes have been submitted anyway...

Taking this opportunity to put in my snaps for Jan Maxwell. I'm totally torn on this award, but since she was mentioned, woo!

I'd be so ok with Jan, Sara or Kelli taking this award.

I will say that Christina is wonderful in Charity, she won me over. But do you really think that Christina deserves it over Vicki? Christina flew in out of nowhere, having never appeared on a Broadway stage, and she certainly doesn't plan on staying there for years to come. Vicki has devoted her life to the stage and is performing the role of her life.

I don't think you need to look at their past...look at the work for which they are nominated. But regardless, I think Vicki deserves it over Xtina....lol i love it that i just called her that.

I think what ShuQ is saying is kind of similar to the idea to which I chalked up my disappointment with the leading actor nominations. It's best performance by... not "best actor." Raúl has spent his entire career giving knock-out performances, and what he's giving now isn't living up to that standard. He may, in fact, be a better actor than some of the people who got nominated, but what he did in the past doesn't matter. I haven't seen Sweet Charity yet, so I don't know anything about Christina's performance, though I'm not sure as to how it can match up to Victoria Clark's. But, if her performance really is that fantastic, regardless of the differing histories, she could take it.

Umm, "stepping up the comedy?" What does that mean. I don't think that sounds like a good thing. That's why the word "mugging" was coined. Why would she "step up" the comedy just "recently?"

well said Emcee...I thought Raul was the best part of Chitty. Incredibly charming, great vocals, and always had my focus. I would have certainly given him John Lithgow's nomination.

That could very well be the case. But human nature being what it is, if by chance she does lose the Tony, I'm sure she'll always wonder if her absences at a potentially crucial time wound up making a difference.

The votes should have all been submitted by now, right? There is a deadline to give the tallyers a chance to count and recount them and I know it's not, you know, the day before.
It's quite possible the final Tony voters had tickets for this weekend's shows.

but wasn't she out this weekend though?

I wouldn't say that. Jan and Sara are pretty darn close.

Go see Kelli in Piazza instead then! She's got an amazing voice and a much bigger part than Sara does in a great play!

I meant she's been even funnier than usual lately, her performance has been better than ever.
