Chip, really? Because I'm tempted to give Lithgow the award in the Tonys in my head. :)

I don't agree that "all the votes are in", most of my friends that vote went to the theater this past weekend so if Ramirez was out, that will definitely hurt her. What amuses me most about the posters on this board and it always has, is when you feel you've "discovered" someone who's been around for almost a decade. Ramirez was in Cape Man back in the mid nineties and has been working steadily, ever since. Spamalot is her third Broadway credit along with bit parts in film and television roles. She's hardly *new* and therefore, whether she wins a Tony or not, she'll be just fine. A Tony does nothing to catapult you in to a better and bigger career. Not even in musical theater, necessarily. You have the rare and sometimes shocking exception, but for the most part, big wigs could care less about the Tony, or sadly, theater for that matter.

A Tony Award is a big career accomplishment for the performer, as well.

Does a Tony mean *that* performance was better than the person(s) who lost? I doubt that. Some of the greatest performances by the greatest performers have not only lost, some did not even get a nomination. The Tony awards are mired in political nonsense and I'm loathe to think that they "mean" anything, as has been proven over and over again in recent years. Say what you will about how "amazing" Idina Mentzel is, the truth of the matter, whether you like it or not, is that they gave that ROLE a Tony.

Although I'm sure the procrastinators are/were still scurrying to hand in their ballots, I'm sure a large portion of them would have been submitted even before this past weekend. So her recent absenses might not cost her that many, if any at all. Okay, okay, I just want the girl to take the Tony. Sorry.

And I, after seeing them both, am pulling for Kelli.

I enjoyed all the ladies in this category, and while I think Ramirez is definetly the best thing about Spamalot, O'Hara gives a much more textured performance. In My opinion, this is the order of greatness...
1. O'Hara
2.Ramirez
3. Maxwell
4. Keenan-Bolger
5. Gleason
Ramirez is the likely favorite, but I hope O'Hara gets it for her remarkable, perfectly sung performance.

I totally agree, and have seen them all perform. (Wife does too!)

Gleason is miles above anyone else in that category.

Gleason's voice vs O'Hara's voice? Kelli WAY over her.

I truly didn't think O'Hara was good in PIAZZA - I didn't buy into her performance for 2 seconds.
And the size of the role has nothing to do with who will win the award. Adrianne Lenox is likely to win Best Featured Actress in a Play, and she's only onstage for about 5 minutes. And how can we ever forget Judy Dench winning an Oscar for her 8 minutes on screen in SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE?

Anyone know if Sara's out again today/tonight?

If I were up for a Tony and I was sick, I'd figure out a way to not be sick. I am sure, and from watching and hearing Ramirez (not that she isn't great), that some of her problems come from singing improperly and pushing too much too often.

Anyone see the matinee today? Was she there?

She was not in today's matinee, but afterwards, her understudy told me to make sure to come back and see her. Someone outside the theater said that this is the week for out of town voters to come see shows, so apparently voting is still happening.

O, voting is most definitely still going on. This is the final stretch. I'm sure voters procrastinate, so of course everything still counts.
Come back and see her? Does that mean she'll be in this week?
Gosh, Sara really must be sick to be missing all of these shows.

I saw the show today and she was not there. What's her deal? Well, she's lost my vote. Michael McKean was in the audience this afternoon which was nice to see though. The show is wonderful I think except for the absent actress.

I saw the matinee today----I enjoyed the stand-in but have nothing to compare her to (never saw Ramirez). What an amazing show! I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy it, but I think they took the film and enhanced it for the stage! Great talent.

Your vote, bronx? That's figurative, right?
Anyway, I saw the show last week and Ramirez seemd to be fine. It's really too bad she's come down with something at this time. I've seen all the nominated performances except Maxwell's, and none of them blew me away. I guess I'd give the award to O'Hara, if only because Ramirez's part just isn't well-integrated in the show.

I was at the show last night and a member of the cast I spoke to said she came down with a virus this week and is resting up in order to get healthy (and not get the others sick) and to be in good shape for Sunday's performance.

Yeah I saw it today as well...and while I was disappointed that I didn't get a chance to see her, her standby was fantastic, as was the entire show!

It appears that Sara is pulling a Chenoweth. Great.
"Goodness is rewarded. Hope is guaranteed. Laughter builds strong bones. Right will intercede. Things you've said I often find I need, indeed. I see the world through your eyes. What's black and white is colorized. The knowledge you most dearly prized I'm eager to employ. You said that life has infinite joys."

Shut up you lame asses. Maybe Sara is really sick. She might be at home crying b/c she can't be here...so unless you know the facst...find something else to complain about.
