She has THREE songs in the show! Compare to major female roles--Dolly, Gypsy, Mame, Funny Girl, 110 in the Shade, Song & Dance, Annie Get Your Gun, The King and I, South Pacific, even Wicked (sorry) etc etc etc...if she can't do this, how is she gonna do a lead who carries the show?

I don't personally think her career is over, but her absences may, like Donna Murphy, make producers think twice about casting her in something like FUNNY GIRL, or EVITA where she is required to carry the show.
In other words, the roles that she would want to play...

I agree. If she's having trouble being in a show where she isn't the sole focus, then I don't have any idea how she would handle a show where she actually has to CARRY the show.
And I sure hope she dosen't play Evita in a revival. Janine LaManna all the way for that role!

I wonder how this not only affects casting directors considering her in the future, but also the general public. I know that I am still skeptical in purchasing tickets to Spamalot because I fear that she may be out the night I choose to go.

I think it affects Spamalot less than it would were she the lead in, say, a revival of Funny Girl, which has been rumored.

La Mama is too old for EVITA on Broadway...

She is? I guess you are right, as usual--I forget that LuPone was so young!

LaManna played it before. I don't think she looks old. Okay, maybe I just dream of seeing her in a big great role on Bway?
Now. Rosie in Birdie is probally a better choice. That's right up her alley.

Hello.
Quick insertion:
Lauren Kennedy is EVITA if there ever is one.
Thank you.
My 2 cents.

"...if she can't do this, how is she gonna do a lead who carries the show?"
She won't unless she changes her attitude. She won't be hired for anything major for a long, long while after this...she's in for a rude awakening.

I think we're jumping on her too quickly. I think she's a lot smarter than people are giving her credit for. WickedRocks, you for example...saying that if she doesn't change her attitude, she's in for a rude awakening. I think she's very much aware of what the absences are doing for her career, but she just can't do anything to prevent them at the moment. Many people are saying, "Oh, she's taking this for granted....etc, etc." But I think there is a very fair explanation (whether personal commitments or health) for these absences, and she's well aware of how much her career can take at this moment.
This is my signature.

Hey. you know LaMan is my #1 choice for the role. But I would have no problem with Kyra in the role.

I love Janine! And Kyra! Janine is fantastic in CANDIDE: in concert, at LC.

Oh Please, Michael Reidel gets his information from T-Shirt Vendors and Ushers from Spamalot. I've seen him sit at the bar of Angus with them, writing feverishly. They're all bitter little queens who are upset that THEY aren't playing the role. How you could all give such credence to ignorant humans like Reidel give me a headache.

I can attest to the fact that Riedel's "production sources" at Spamalot really weren't anybody 'important'

I am sure Miss Ramirez is not missing performances on purpose. She seems way too smart to jeapordize her career. Hopefully she can figure out whatever it is she eneds to be able to do 8 shows a week so she will be able to carry a show in the future. It would be a shame and a waste of an amazing talent if she can't. I've only met her at the stage door, but she always been extremely nice to everyone and I can't see her being a diva. I've seen the way the other cast mates act around her and I cannot detect any animosity. I believe one of the understudies who was playing Lady of the Lake has left the show. Maybe she was bitter and that is Riedel's source. Who knows. I found an old article on Riedel and most people do not like him and feel you must take his repporting with a grain of salt.

Only found this web site in the last week or two and have been reading the forums daily, I must say some of the people who post here are the nastiest, bitter bunch of sad ( maybe) unemployed actors, i have ever come across.
A lot of this forum seems to be posts about how someone Hates Her/Him, that person can't sing, act or whatever..
So here's a idea, show me that you can do better...!!

Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist.
Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino.
This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more.

Typical Broadway!
they can SMELL this woman is gonna ditch this community as fast as her vocal cords can carry her - and they go on the attack!
Ms. Peters could not get through 25% of her GYPSY previews and everyone was horrified that Riedel took her to task -
..in Ms. Peter's case however, she ain't going anywhere...Broadway, besides some feature films and a Lifetime movie here and there , is all she knows so there is a respect ..oh and some concerts that play to packed houses filled with a ratio of 85% men!
Ramirez has a voice that could do quite well on a hip hop album! Let's hope she makes the right choices and ditches this community!

Well, with friends like these...
It's very true she could go have a successful pop career, but if she was going to do that, don't you think she would have done it BEFORE she had to endure CAPEMAN, FASCINATING RHYTHM and A CLASS ACT. It would seem to me she's shown a little bit more dedication than you're giving her credit for voiceanth.

I guess it would be much better for her to just do the shows instead of letting the understudy go on. Then everyone could complain about how BAD she sounded and how she just PHONED it in. How would that be for her career? Maybe she's trying to avoid vocal strain or nodes that COULD end her career. Unless you are Sara or her doctor, you can't know what's going on.
