Here's an anecdote:
When Lloyd Webber and Sarah 1 were splitting up, and going through all the divorce procedure, Lloyd Webber wrote Sarah 2 a song. It was called "Married Man" (intended for the original "Aspects of Love"). Some of the lyrics are:
Time was golden
I felt I was falling
Waiting, smiling
Praying you'd be calling
Nothing lies above me
Knowing that you love me
I woke up beside you once and said
I'll never have to fall in love again...
Sarah 2 (Brightman) recorded this with the London Symphony Orchestra. Because of the divorce, and the controversies surrounding it, Lloyd Webber didn't release this song. (The reason is pretty self-explanatory...). Some more lyrics:
Married man,
you were happy and you let me know
Always ran up the stairs to reach my door!
But I cried every time you had to go
Should have said, don't come here anymore...
This song, quite famously, was recycled in The Phantom of the Opera. It became, musically, THE MUSIC OF THE NIGHT. Sarah Brightman was always meant to sing this song (the original version) and finally sang it: but in its popular Phantom form, at Royal Albert Hall.
On another note, here is another lyric which became a song in Phantom:
I don't talk to strangers
It seems a waste of time
To hear someone you don't know
Recall a life you won't know
Those who talk to strangers
May not intend a crime
But all such conversations
Are dangerous occasions
Placido Domingo recorded this, on his album, with these lyrics by Tim Rice. Some years after it became (musically) ALL I ASK OF YOU in Phantom.
Goes to show you...

Who can explain it, who can tell you why?
Fools give you reasons, wise men never try
