I saw Frenchy Davis on the corner of Broadway and 7th Avenue on Tuesday afternoon. I was too shy to speak to her but I smiled and she reciprocated; she was walking alone. I think I saw Tommy Tune, the great Broadway dancer, in Bryant Park yesterday. He was quickly passing by.I can't be 100% certain, but it looked like him. He was well-dressed and was in a conversation with what appeared to be a business associate.
tommy tune is hard to miss. was he VERY VERY VERY tall? was he wearing bea arthur's hair? did he have on cowboy boots? if you're still not sure, it probably wasn't him. he is quite distinct, even at a distance.

Frenchy Davis is far from a celebrity..sorry

I saw Bono coming out of the Park Hyatt Chicago last week. We're tight now, me and Bono.

If a talented singer/actress who has co-starred in several hit Broadway shows, like Miss Davis isn't a celebrity, what do you consider a celebrity? Is Christina Applegate a celebrity or just an attractive person?

The gentleman was lanky and tall with gorgeous, wavy hair, but I didn't see any boots. He really passed by fast so I could have missed it. If I could get confirmation that Mr. Tune's in New York involved with a production, then I would have a lead.

Myron,
The reality is most people don't have a clue who Broadway performers are and they are far from celebrities. No one (other than Broadway peers and fans) know who Natalie Joy Johnson or Sherie Renee Scott or Shoshanna Bean are..for example.
The only reason anyone knew about Frenchy Davis at all was because she got caught in some pictures and got booted from A.I.
She is, like, the 30 millionth replacement "Seasons of Love" soloist. So what.
I was talking with coworkers about the tragedy of Bernadette Peters' loss and not one person even knew who Bernadette was.
Sad, I know.
When you said "Celebrity" I was expecting, like Madonna or Cher or someone truly famous.
Frenchy Davis might be famous to you but not to the masses.
Don't get me wrong, I think she is cool and it's awesome that you saw her..
wait, why am I even writing this...who cares...my apologies.
Let me edit..

Di - by 'co-workers', are you referring to the other people involved with the production of AIDA in Maryland? If so, I am astonished that they wouldn't know who Ms. Peters is.

nope, I wasn't referring to the people involved with my show at all..I have many jobs; some of which have NOTHING to do with theatre in any way.

Frenchy MAY have only had her 15 mins, but she was famous enough to spawn 100s of jokes, and Queen Latifah spoofed her on SNL.

My favorite celeb story...
I was walking back from voice lessons on the upper west side, right next to the park, when I saw a guy I could have sworn I knew (wearing jogging gear) jogging toward me. I kept thinking,
"OMG, who is that? I recognize him so he must be my friend, it's so nice to see him again. Maybe I should hug him."
[inner monologue]
I was standing there, paralyzed (with curiousity) on the sidewalk, blocking the whole thing, mind you, when the man in the jogging suit finally reached where I was standing.
I was still trying to figure out where I knew him from when the man in question grabbed me by the shoulders and said "Um, I am jogging. Can you move over please?" and physically shifted me to the side. (Gently yet firmly.)
Only then did I figure out who it was and, NO, I didn't know him at all and thank God I didn't try to hug him or something.I would have died of embarrassment.
Who was it?
Jerry Seinfeld...

I've seen a celebrity every time I've been to NYC, just on the streets or what not... George Lucas ate across from me at the Mercer Kitchen in SoHo... Also saw KD Lang there another time I was there.. saw Daryll Hannah on her bike in Soho, the lead in the TV show Monk, Hugh Jackman, etc... i've also met Brittany Murphy on TRL and the celebs that were in Rent, DRS, etc. I used to get so excited meeting celebs, but now that I've been in some random movies just doing extra work and meeting them, it's just like normal people..

also, i'm living in Philly now and on Tuesday, after buying my Rent CD at Tower Records aand then leaving Borders, the lead who was nominated for an Oscar in Sideways walked right past me and went into Borders.

Ethan Hawke literally ran into me in Chelsea...he practically ran me down with his stroller and didn't say a word. Of course, I understand that he didn't want to make a scene with his kids in tow...

Sat next to AL Pacino on a bench in Central Park, Julia Murney walked into me on 44th street while talking on her cell phone....
I wanna play!
I (literally) bumped into Chita Rivera yesterday afternoon in a rehearsal hall.

Let's see...yesterday I worked along side of Greg Kinnear, Jesse Metcalf (DHousewives), Doug Savant (DHousewives), Mark McGrath building a Habitat for Humanity house in Burbank. Doug and Jesse are hotties in person.
I have walked next to Hunter Foster (9th and W 46th), sat across from Idina (The Palm), walked into Alfred Molina (damn iPod)and jogged past Richard Gere.
Habitat for Humanity is a great cause to begin with...but you add those guys to the mix....!

One more really great story that happened to my ex..
Ex was working as a personal assistant to a Bway producer and was asked to come to said producer's party that evening.
Ex was so excited thinking he was a guest. WRONG!
When he got to the party he discovered very quickly that he was hired help so Ex got to work right away.
At one point during the night the phone rang so Ex answered it. And the caller asked, "Is there a Jessica there??"
To which Ex replied "I don't know, man, there are like a MILLION Jessica's here."
To which caller replied back "Let me say this again, Is SARAH
JESSICA there, this is her husband!
It was Matthew Broderick.
Yankeefan! Julia Murney!
Okay, not like her walking by you is a huge deal, but still. <3
I have a penchant for walking into actors, even though their "celebrity" status is debatable. Literally crashing into them. It's smoothe.
