Has anyone heard any rumours of casting for School Of Rock? I would have imagined some casting would have been announced so far. I was watching the film last night and was trying to dream cast it in my head but found it pretty difficult. Does anyone know who took part in readings or workshops?

I've heard Alex Brightman and Leslie Kritzer were involved as the Jack Black and Sarah Silverman parts.

I saw recently that a kid from Matilda was cast, but I forget which kid

^ I know that the entire children's ensemble of Matilda auditioned all at once, so it could be really any number of kids who have been in that show, particularly the original ones who are a bit older now.

I can't help but think Mitch Jarvis would be an amazing choice for the Jack Black role! Anyone else agree?

Georgi James would be perfect for one of the kid roles. She played July in the recent Annie revival and she does rock stuff and can play guitar if I remember correctly!

I agree. I can't at all promise that the rumor I heard was accurate, btw. The person I heard it from seemed certain, but I can't promise that they are a reliable source. I hope BWW doesn't see this and make one of those dumb rumor articles like they do sometimes.

I'm not surprised at all. She's ALW's golden girl. Knowing his creepy obsession with her, he probably wrote it for her.
I've also heard Alex Brightman's name attached to this.

Alex Brightman does not seem like a Dewey at all. I could see him as more of a Ned, if anything.

The fact that Alex Brightman is workshopping the role of Dewey does suggest they not going for someone who is a clone of Jack Black.

Imogen Lloyd Webber has said that the cast is amazing and she is just blown away every time she hears and sees the kids perform. I'm sure the cast will be announced after the Tonys madness dies down so the news isn't overshadowed by the awards.
