From today's Page Six (NY Post), under sightings: "Sean Penn at DOUBT paying particular attention to the role of the priest, possibly in preparation for a movie adaptation."
Thoughts?
eh.
but keep cherry! she was fantastic. and well... adriene all the way.
anyone have a link to a thread about the doubt movie and/or links to articles?
Father Flynn is so dangergous becuase he seems like such a nice, clean cut guy. That is not Sean Penn.
it's like makin johnny depp fr. flynn
Johnny Depp can play anything.
He was not at Doubt for that reason, though he might be an interesting choice for the film, especially if Streep is cast.
I still say Robert Sean Leonard would make an excellent Father Flynn. I don't really see Sean Penn, but then, I tend to find him incredibly overrated.
I think Robert Sean Leonard would make a fantastic choice, Mabel.
Wouldn't he, mef?!? I definitely think I prefer the "seems innocent but could really be questionable" to the "seems sketchy but could really be a decent guy" approach.
While I agree with that, Penn has that certain "on the verge of a breakdown" moroseness to him. He just seems grave enough to me. Certainly not the worst stage to screen casting any of us have had the misfortune to bear witness to.
I'd like to see Chris Meloni take on the role.

boxers7 i was JUST thinking of him! AMEN to him.

Sean Penn is an incredible actor, but he looks a little too bad-ass to play Father Flynn.
I agree that Robert Sean Leonard would be a good choice. although if this film ever does get made, it would have to star well...a star.
I think Sean could pull it off. He can project the necc charisma for the role. (course camera angles will help w that too)
I think Sean Penn would be great. I've had Meryl Streep in mind for the movie ever since I saw the play. She'd be brilliant. I also think that Erika Christensen and Angela Bassett should do it.
Sean Penn would be a great Flynn.
Penn would rip out Sister Aloishus heart & eat it for breakfast
Doubt he will get it but being a name you never know
Sean Penn playing Father Flynn actually sounds all right to me. I would have never thought of that before, but now that you mention it, I could definately see it.

I was thinking the same thing, but in films like 21 Grams and The Assassination of Richard Nixon, he showed that he's great as the everyman. Personally, I think Peter Krause would be ideal.
Sean Penn is one of our finest actors, and I think he'd be right for that role.
