Hi
Wondered if anyone could help.....
Coming over from the UK and want to see Newsies.
What are the seats/ view like in the Mezzanine at the Nederlander?
Is row FF central ok, or is it better to be closer to the sides?
Would really appreciate it if somebody who knows the theater well could reply to this post.
Is the front of rear mezzanine awful?
Many thanks!
Russell

I also have a question : I just a bought a front row center mezzanine seat, and it was regular price as opposed to the second row which is premium : how bas is the metal bar exactly? Has anyone sat there before?
THANKS!

Posted: 2/27/12 at 10:27amThere is a bar there but I never found it to be in my view at all. I am tall though, maybe for a shorter person it would be in the way?

Hi.....
Is the rear mezzanine seat on a higher level than the front mezzanine, or is it one continuous level of tierd seats?
Thanks so much for your help.
Cant decide to go in the back of the front mezz, fron of the rear mezz which is cheaper!
Regards
Russell

it has been a long time since i have been in the nederlander (and it was usually front row orchestra) but if i remember correctly there isn't that much of a speration between front and rear mez, and the seats are all on a higher incline so it is really just farther away from the stage one row at a time.
I consider myself a seat snob and always prefer to be closer, but i do not think it is bad in the grand scheme of things in there

Posted: 2/4/13 at 11:35pmI just saw Newsies and was really disappointed in our seats. Don't sit in the mezzanine center first 2 rows. There is s big black box sticking out that blocks part of the stage. I paid full price and could have chosen side center aisle mezzanine 2rd row, which turns out would have been perfect, but went with the center thinking it would be better. I even googled best seats and didn't find anyone that said this, so beware!

That "big back box" would be the array of projectors for the scenery.
Avoid the read orchestra (stalls) as the mezzanine overhang obstructs the view of the third level of the set.
The mezzanine is all one level, steeply raked stadium seating.
It is a smaller theatre and a dance heavy show with a three-story set, so mezzanine is fantastic viewing and even rear mezzanine offers a fine view.
If you choose to sit in the mezzanine and don't mind being further back, rear mezzanine is probably preferable just for the ease of getting to and from your seats. The current seating chart for the Nederland provides a very tight and somewhat uncomfortable entrance to the mezzanine via the center stairwell if you have tickets to the front / forward mid mezzanine.

I won the ticket lottery over the weekend after many times trying, and unfortunately the lotto seats (or at least the one I had, and the one in the row behind me) were terrible. All the way on the extreme side in the 2nd row. I could see, maybe, 50% of the show. Almost none of the set, except for when it moved to the front of the stage. Had a great view of the speakers and lighting rigs though. I don't remember seeing anyone mention how the lotto seats are extremely partial view, I would have done standing room, or paid for a ticket in the Mezz if I had known just how terrible the seat would be. This seat, B-16, should not have even been sold to the public at all.
This was my view for the entire show. (Taken during intermission just to show how bad it really was.)

Posted: 2/5/13 at 2:52amMy friend and I did lotto and had the same experience, Cape Twirl. We were all the way off to the other side of the orchestra in row B and the view really is horrible...I'm usually not one to complain about lotto/rush seats because they mostly aren't that bad and they're cheap but you can hardly see what's going on in the lotto seats for Newsies.

Posted: 2/5/13 at 9:13amI sat in the center of front row mezz, and the black box does obstruct the action most downstage. I often had to lean quite far forward to see the entire stage, which was mildly annoying, but ultimately didn't take away from my enjoyment of the show. There are some scenes that take place on the second or third levels of the stage, so the view was perfect at those times.

I did TKTS for a Sunday evening early in the run and got a mezzanine seat toward the front and on the side. It was excellent-full view, I had no trouble seeing anything (and I am very short).
Do not do the lottery-I concur with the people on here-the seats are awful.
Do see it and enjoy. It's a fun show.

Posted: 2/5/13 at 11:46amSat in the back of the orchestra (last row) in June and missed a fair amount - the entire third tier of the set, and the projections. I suggest the mezzanine- even in the back, it will be okay. I saw it again in October and sat in the front Mezz and it was perfect!

Posted: 4/4/13 at 7:23amHow is the first row center orchestra near the aisle? Is the stage high? Does the orchestra wall block your view?

Posted: 8/28/13 at 9:28amI am wondering why the first several rows in Orchestra are cheaper than rows 6-8 in Orchestra? Due to set design do the first several rows in Orchestra provide an obstructed view?
#19Seats in the Nederlander Theater - NEWSIES
Posted: 8/28/13 at 11:14amBWNewbie- That's true for almost all productions. Several shows offer the first row orchestra as lotto or rush seats because they are so close. I probably won't say this right, but basically, when you sit a few rows back, you get the same view as the creative team who put the show together and watched it come to life. So you see it as it was "meant to be seen" and location is considered "prime seating"--which comes with a higher price.

I saw Guys & Dolls at the Nederlander and was in the front row. I remember the stage was high, so you couldn't see the performers from the ankle down, and some of the stuff going on further back onstage. They weren't bad seats, and it didn't ruin my experience of the show. But generally sitting in rows 6-8 of the orchestra are among the best seats in the house; you're close enough to see facial expressions, yet far enough where you can enjoy a view of the entire stage.

Its going to be tough to answer this an not sound like a Fansie...
Agree - first 2 rows center mezz are to be avoided. Anything else upstairs is fine (and sometimes even better than fine - as indicated the swet is 3 levels high)
Sat 1st row center - except for a 'crick in the neck' LOVED the seats because they were so close to the dancing
Sat side orch 2x (not FAR side...more to come on that) in the seats under 12 you are absolutly fine
Rear Orch does have 'some' blocked view of the higher levels onstage becuase of the mezz overhang
HATE the rush tickets and would never do them again - WAY too far to the side and WAY too much obstruction.
So-to recap - No far sides, no 1st 2 rows center front mezz, no rows under the mezz overhang and your view will be perfect.
Oh-and enjoy the show and the trip!

Posted: 10/4/13 at 10:33amI'm planning to go see Newsies in November. I see available seats in row GG of the Mezzanine. The seating chart shows extra space between this row and the row in front of it (EE). I'm thinking this could be a good row to see the musical if no one is directly in front of us, but just wanted to check if anyone has sat in this row or knows what is in the space in front of GG. I want to make sure there isn't any equipment that would block our view (like the part of the first two rows of the mezzanine).
