I am biased, because I'm not a fan of Audra's, but the show is supposed to take place in Sweden. I don't think she fits the part.

are you saying there are no black people in sweden?
"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."

Is it RACIST to suggest Audra for Petra? (Imagine the unintentional subtext)
Give me claws and a hunch, just away from this bunch.

I'm sure there are black people in Sweden, but the stereotype of Swedish people are very fair people. Correct?

No, but I don't think it works. While I stated that I think she's a little too young to play Desiree right now, she's clearly too old to play Petra. She'd look silly throwing herself at Henrik.

The stereotype of Swedish people are very fair people. Correct?
The stereotype is that Swedish people are very fair with blonde hair and blue eyes. Neither Catherine nor Bernadette fit that description either. In fact, the only people in the cast who even slightly resemble that description are Hunter Ryan Herdlicka and Leigh Ann Larkin.

Does the play actually state it takes place in Sweden. I know that the original movie "Smile on a Summer Night" is done by Ingmar Bergman. Yes the stage production was also meant to be Swedish but one would argue that the movie version of ALNM was moved to Germany. And also the cast has been very multi-culture.

I think Nicole Kidman and Judi Dench would be PERFECT!!!! Although she's not the most amazing singer... she is an amazing actress... it would be fierce. Judi playing the mom now. I wish they'd remake the movie with those two.

Yes, the musical
definitely takes place in Sweden. It's listed as its setting in the playbill and at least four Swedish cities are mentioned
throughout the

Even though MOST people in Sweden might be fairer, this is a fictional representation of Sweden. Do we know who Desiree's father is? What if he's not Swedish, and she takes after him? Also, Ulla Jacobsson, who played Anne in Smiles of a Summer Night was a brunette, just like Victoria and Ramona Mallory are. (Bergman himself apparently commented that Victoria Mallory looked almost exactly like the woman Anne was based on.)
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

Well, I am just not a fan of Audra's. I wouldn't really wanna see her in any show, either if it takes place in Sweden or in Nigeria. Sorry, not a fan.
Nicole Kidman, on the other hand would be great in it. She can act at least.

Were there any truth to the Brooke Shields rumors?

Well those were about replacing CZJ. She was apparently seen at the theater. I would imagine they did approach her.
