OK, is it just me or is this a little freaky? The name got me at first, and then the picture was just too much.
I'm a big fan of Sherie... but what in the world?

I think it is brilliant. Very SRS diva!
That is flat out sacrilegious. I guess I don't really know the context it's coming from, but I'm a little offended.
I'm trying to see if I can miss my first day of classes my 3rd semester to fly to NY and see this
Yeah, it's a little weird.
Lol, people are offended by it?
I think it's simply brilliant and very Sherie-esque. And I guess if it's offending people, then it is getting the buzz it wanted.
I absolutely adore the poster and the title even more. Especially since Sherie is one of the most humble, eccentric, fun, and INCREDIBLY talented actresses working on Broadway at the time.
um.....woah. i was like, wait, whats wrong until i saw the hands and got it. tee hee. but still, its pretty weird.
Sherie is so. Freaking. Fabulous.
ray-
If Sherie is so fabulous, why does she need to offend people to get attention?
I thought it was brilliant, until I saw the picture and... felt a little twinge... But I understand what they';re trying to do... and it's funny.. I just.. it makes me a little uncomfortable.
When I first saw this, I thought it was fab...looking at the overall picture. But when I actually looked closer and saw the red marks on the hand, I wasn't thrilled about it anymore. Just my opinion.. RC in Austin, Texas
Boo woo!
If you're offended by stupid stuff like this, stay home and watch Veggie Tales.
Y'all aren't offended by murder, cannibalism, rape, bestiality, witchcraft, etc, etc, etc, that you've seen on TV, stage, film, read in books, but you're offended by a poster?
Right. That makes a lot of sense.
lol, fabulous title.
I'm with Nitsua on this.
And I'm sure she didn't draw the poster, but it is getting your attention isn't it?
I can't believe people are actually offended by it, I find the whole thing somewhat amusing actually.
It's hilarious that people are offended by this, of all things.
Love the poster! so cute!
Is that a stigmata?! lol!

Singtopher is exactly right, sure it's getting our attention, but for all the wrong reasons. I think the woman is very talnted, and I really doubt that she designed the poster, but still...
And if I saw "murder, cannibalism, rape" etc. on a poster, I probably *would* be offended.
She's humble??? Wow, her body double is pretty rude at stage door!
"And if I saw "murder, cannibalism, rape" etc. on a poster, I probably *would* be offended."
I'm talking about shows. You'll pay to see Sweeney Todd, A Streetcar Named Desire, Equus, Spring Awakening, RENT and it won't bother you, but looking at a poster is offensive?
That doesn't make sense to me.
the stories in a show are different. They are telling a story to an audience to just tell a story or put forth a message or lesson, or whatever... this poster makes it look like an almost personal stab at christianity made by Sherie. Now I know that the show is just fun, and is making a joke... and isn't an actual message trying to be put forth by Sherie or the people writing, producing or being involved with the show... but it still just kind of rubs some of us the wrong way for a second before we realize what they're really doing... I don't see why you need to attack us about that.
there's nothing wrong with that poster.. its art !
well .. I like this too from 2006 off-broadway show MATTHEW PASSION:

Those things you listed are done pretty tastefully (how they are written in the scripts), and those things are part of the story.
As far as we know, this is just part of the title/poster which seems to be completely unrelated to what the show is actually about.
This poster just seems disrespectful and tasteless to me.
Ughhh, Matthew Passion , SO hot, how can I forget?
Oh, let the poor woman have her way...she thinks she's bigger than Jesus, fine.

The name by itself would have been fine. Funny and attractive.
They could have put a halo over her.
But I think the wounds on the hands was going too far, and I don't practice a religion.

Sherie can do no wrong in my eyes. People... take a joke.
