Bye Bye Birdie is "Birdie" not "BBB"
West Side Story is "West Side" not WSS
A Little Night Music is "Night Music" not ALNM
Next to Normal can be N2N, if you insist.
TIA!

I am amused by this thread. For the longest time, I've struggled trying to figure out a lot of the "codes" used on this - and other - message boards.
I'm okay with my age.

I heard Daniel Radcliffe is going to be in a workshop of HTSIBWRT.
Actually, I don't use abbreviations that often. I don't see what's so hard about typing a few extra letters.

Thank you, PalJoey! It takes longer for people to decipher whatever acronym is being used (especially for shows no one else is discussing) than it does to type an actual word or two.
Just type the stupid word! By the time I figure out how to type the acronym TPAAOJPMAPBTIOTAOCUTDOTMDS, or even actually type it, I could have just typed Marat/Sade. The use of acronyms does not make anyone smarter, younger, more special, an industry insider, a more devoted fan, or more popular. Just lazier.

I agree. I'm only 25, but I can't even follow what some of these stand for.
When I see BBB, I assume it would be for the Better Business Bureau because that's what their website is. But then, talking about that on this board would be plain silly.

Posted: 11/19/09 at 4:20pmI'm guilty of some of those, but I much prefer "Sunday..." to SITPWG. It always looks like "sit pig" to me.

AFTTHOTWTTF
Or how about the shorter..."Forum"?
My favorite shows are SITPWG, TTFAPCSB and STTDBOFS? Which of these do you like best?
Sunday. Because I don't know what the hell the other things are.

Posted: 11/19/09 at 5:09pmIt's like a game! TTFAPCSB is The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee... or the much cleaner and simpler "Spelling Bee".
#20re: Short Names for Shows
Posted: 11/19/09 at 5:11pmBut then shouldn't it be T25APCSB? I mean, the official title is 25th, not Twenty-Fifth.

I'm 24 and I was the first person to complain about BBB.
If you want to bring ageism into it, younger people were raised on computers and have spry fingers, so they should be able to type out the full titles in the same time it takes the older posters to hunt and peck out "WSS".

See, H2$ has always confused me. I am always like "Something-that-starts-with-H to Dollars/Money".
The one (I know) that I always struggle over is YAGMCB. Some in here I've never heard of.

And the translation for that would be "....Charlie Brown" - simple.
God, what has this world come to. It's going to hell even BEFORE 2012 hits.
