I know she is in Hairspray and knocks us dead nightly with her 10 second "Mama I'm a big girl solo"

and I, ofcourse, heard her untouchable "O Bless the Lord" on Godspell. But what other stuff has she done or what other cds does she appear on???

This is the person who needs to be Fanny Brice in a revival of FUNNY GIRL.

There are no other choices!

Amazing vocals. Obviously, a lot of stage presence. Funny. And, to top it all off, she looks like she could BE Fanny Brice.

Why doesnt she just replace Sutton as Millie? Belts amazingly well, funny, and she acts well. Those are all of the qualities of the perfect Millie!

I don't think she's quite pretty enough to be Millie.

She's a character actress who's just a little too young for the types of roles she's type-appropriate for at the moment.

(With the exception of Fanny...)

Not that I'm capping but she isnt tall and lanky enough to be millie. shoshana is all woman with her shapely figure. Let's come up with more roles for Shosh!

I don't think that tall and lanky are requirements for the role of Millie. She's just got to be pretty, blow the house down with her vocals, and dance her shoes off. She also has to be the "girl next door" or "every woman".

Shoshana doesn't really fit the bill as far as "girl next door" type. She's much too non-average looking.

Hmmm... Good roles for Shoshana....

Winnifred in MATTRESS
Gloria in DAMN YANKEES
Ilona in SHE LOVES ME (but still a little young for it)
Ado Annie in OKLAHOMA

I think she'll probably end up being a glorified chorus girl for a longer while in her career ... until she gets old enough to pull off character roles. It's just a matter of time before she blossoms and finds just the right role for her to shine.

She is so fabulous in HAIRSPRAY.

She must be Fanny Brice SOON.

She plays 'Shelley'(one of the Nicest Kids In Town) and understudies Tracy, Velma, and Prudy.

OMG. I can totally see her in that role! She would tear up "Shoeless Joe". I can also see her in either of the female lead roles in City of Angels. Not sure why that show popped into my head, but there goes.

Shoshana would of been an amazing Annette in SNF... imagine her "if i can't have you" damn! lol... also maureen in rent i could so picture her doing... when she gets older and 42nd street revives again, she would make a wonderful Maggie Jones.

*Rusty from Footloose (Let's Hear It For The Boy)
*The Mom in Batboy the musical
*Jewel the Maid in Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (24 hours of Lovin, ya i know she's supposed to be black, but with Shoshana's voice it would work!)
*Narrator in Joseph
*Eve or Yonah in Children of Eden

"Good Morning Baltimore" as well as other stuff at Joe's Pub I believe

Her "Let's hear it for The Boy" would be amazing. She would also be an incredible Narrator in Joseph. Just imagine how great her "Gimme Gimme" would be if she was in Millie!

I think she should pursue a recording career and stay off the stage. She's just an okay actress and has a look that makes her wrong for all of the roles you've mentioned above. She seems to want to be J.Lo, so maybe she should try.

I agree that a lot of the roles mentioned (Millie, etc.) are completely wrong for her. She needs to stick to character work (Winnifred in MATTRESS, Gloria in DAMN YANKEES,etc. -- see my post above.)

Her solo occurs during the set change from the end of the "Mama, I'm A Big Girl Now" solo into the next scene, which is at the TV studio, and what she basically does is sing some impressive high soprano notes, and does some riffling. That's the best way do describe it. It IS really good, and I think that Shoshana is *not* just an "okay" actress. She's very good, and very funny, and her look is not that difficult to cast her in. I'm sure she's a smart girl, and knows her type, per se, and would not go and audition for anything that might not make sense for her. And BTW, who says Millie has to look like Sutton Foster?

Also I think they mixed Shoshana's solo into the actual cast recording.

At the end when Amber says "Such a Big Big Girl"

and then some girls sing Stop Dont No PLease

while another sing oh oh oooohhhh, oh oh oh ohhhhh

Well Shoshana does that on the cd, I THINK

and then the reprise is that again but a little higher then Shoshana starts riffing and hits insane Mariah Carey Bird Notes, lol.
