Yeah, she was the understudy for Tracy, Velma, Prudy, and all the two other characters that the actress playing Prudy covers. She only got to go on a few times as Tracy since there was a standby that had first dibs on the role when Marissa or Kathy Brier were out.

I saw Hairspray 2 years ago and she played Tracy, she was really good, but as a strong Sho fan, i prefered Marissa as Tracy!

yes, even so her legs show in some of the costumes...wouldn't it be weird to have her be all bigger in the middle and have skinny little arms and legs??

Posted: 12/9/05 at 9:27pmI'd assume all the Tracys have (relatively) thin legs because they dance so much. And if an audience member is so distracted by the persons legs and isn't enjoying their performance they shouldn't be playing the part anyway.
Am I cut out to spend my time this way?

Posted: 12/9/05 at 10:10pmI've seen a few tracy's in "fat suits" they look like turtules. i think its the big hair and big body and skinny legs. I noticed from the last row in the theater, it is kinda distracting.

just cuz you dance doesn't mean you would have thin legs..muscular yes but they would still have as much fat as the rest of your body. But more importantly it would look funny to have Sho sized legs on a Tracy sized body..unnatural.
The girl I saw was obviously padded but her legs did not look exceptionally skiny compared to the padding since she was indeed Tracy sized.

Posted: 12/10/05 at 4:13amFrom what I've heard, Michelle Dowdy has very skinny legs, and she definitely doesn't wear a fat suit, just a little bit of padding to achieve the desired shape. I think it's getting too picky to "require" every actor that plays Tracy to be fat all over...like was said before, if they are good enough in the role no one will notice their legs, at least not for long.
