Well, no Borders or B&N in Chicago have it. Looks like I'll have to order it after all.

Anyone else having any luck actually buying it in stores?

No, but it should be in my mailbox this afternoon when my Netflix shipment comes in.

I ordered mine from B&N a week ago. The store is going to call me when they have it. I'll call them today to see if it came in.

I did a quick Borders search- none of them in my area are carrying it. Gosh I miss Tower.

Hey, I warned you guys about this. I knew no one would be carrying copies of this on release day. I expected Barnes & Noble and/or Borders would be (its their nature), alas at the full retail price. No such luck. If you would have ordered your copy last week from the numerous online stores, it would have shipped today or late last week (to arrive to you today).

The copy I ordered last week arrived yesterday but I didnt' have time to watch the DVD. I will be doing so tonight.

You snooze; you lose. re: ShowBusiness DVDs

Well Brody I will order it on-line for sure, but I was joining in just because this will seriously limit it's sales. I've waited this long to see it, it's not going to kill me to wait a couple days more.

You're well aware that I've had you blocked from sending me PMs for some time now. Don't expect that to change any time soon.

i got a copy of this from Dress Circle in London last weekend and whilst the documentary is good it seems to leap frog over a lot of information like Wicked's poorly received out of town try out etc.

I have a better idea of where you can take that copy and put it.

Thanks for the thought, though.

You're quite welcome. Making the effort was good enough.

For future reference -- and this doesn't only apply to me -- an act of kindness does not include giving someone a THING. It involves looking beyond yourself and treating others as equal human beings. Gift giving, or distribution of your swag, is an easy way out, and very few people will waste their time with those who try to redeem themselves through the giving of stuff. It takes a different kind of effort than that, Brody.

So what website could I order it from? OR even better are there any stores in NY that might carry it?

I haven't been following the release, I just saw it was being released on Sunday. I can wait a few days. I just figured the Borders right by me (which is located directly next door to the theatre Wicked Chicago plays at) would have it. They always have displays set up for the Wicked CD, Book, Sheet Music book, etc. I figured they would get it in. Just warning others!

Perhaps Virgin Records in Times Square?

I would think the Virgin Records store in Times Square would have it, but that means wading through the tourists and it probably won't be discounted. I ordered mine from the Playbill Store, $19.95 plus $4 shipping, which I thought was very reasonable.

The Broadway New York stores may have it, too, as well as the Drama Bookshop.

I just called B&N and they told me that my order status was still "shopping" meaning that they don't have them at their regional distributors and it has not been shipped to my local store. I can wait, though...I saw the film in NY.

I live in the WEST COAST and I remember when items use to be ready the day they were announced a release. And since it is not considered a "Popular" item that most stores just don't care and that is sad, cause it could take 2 weeks for it to come over here when all of it's publications say that it is "now in stores".

FWIW, I just got my copy at the Virgin Megastore in West Hollywood. Full price (ouch). They did have several copies, though.

Um, is there really nothing inside the case except the DVD (not even any advertising) or is something missing from my copy?

Nope. Nothing is included -- just the disc.

This is now common with most (if not ALL) DVD releases. Since most consumers really don't care for the inserts or booklets, they no longer do them. This was common practice in the early days of DVDs -- you'd at least have a Chapters insert.

No longer.

I actually thought some of the major movie rental stores would have it, but alas, they did not. They didn't even know what it was. I don't really want to buy it, but I really want to see it.
