I know that 'The Phantom of the Opera', 'Wicked' and 'The Lion King' have all recouped and handsomely too.
What other shows have recouped?
Chicago
Mamma Mia
Billy Elliot
In The Heights
Jersey Boys
Mary Poppins
Next to Normal
West Side Story
A Little Night Music apparently recouped their initial investment, not sure where they stand with all of the money put in for Peters & Stritch.

There has been no official announcement for ALNM, so I don't know if it should be on the list.

Is Rock of Ages close? It's been going steady for a while now, you'd think it would have recouped at this point
Not Elling.

Broadway17 I was wondering the same myself.

It did, pretty quickly too. Someone may be able to shed more light on it, but I think it might have broken a record..?

rock of ages has recouped very nicely.
Has Memphis or American Idiot Recouped yet?i'm coming to new york in April and was hoping that they would both still be running.
MEMPHIS and AMERICAN IDIOT have not made any announcement about recouping as yet.
You want to know about the likelihood both shows will be still running in April? Just look at their grosses, and pay attention to how many weeks the show grosses below $500,000.

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

I know avenue q has closed...but has it recouped? The current 1 and the broadway one?
Obviously not Avenue Q.
They ask for money from the audience every night and pass a hat around!
AVE Q recouped within its first season on Broadway. Off-Broadway shows generally do not announce, but it at the very least appears to be keeping its head above water.
