So my Grandma wants me to take her for a show tomorrow, she’s very conservative, and I want to take her to something good, preferably not Disney, but something you would take a 10-year-old to, because I don’t want to take any risks.
Yea i was considering MFL, but the take me to the church sequence would not sit well with her
If she is that conservative, why not make her select? That way if she’s offended she only has herself to blame.

Dear Evan Hansen, Spongebob, Waitress, Wicked, Phantom.
Yea, but she has no idea what any of the shows are, but I’m gonna give her two to pick from.

DEH has suicide in it, along with the joke about sucking dick for meth, I don’t think she’ll appreciate Spongebob, In Waitress Dr. Pommater does it with Jenna while she’s pregnant, and she has seen wicked and phantom
Sorry for being so picky, I’m just really nervous about it
That’s a good idea, how is beautiful, anything problematic in that? I haven’t seen it.

I can see it now. Things she’ll be offended by:
Dear Evan Hansen - Lying, possible Pre-marital sex
Spongebob - interspecies relationships
Waitress - extra-marital sexual relations
Wicked - glorification of witchcraft and the occult
Phantom - Creepy guy holds woman against her will

actually pretty accurate XD, except she loved wicked with Idina and Kristin, and she doesn’t remember phantom
I’d say your three best bets are:
Hello, Dolly!
My Fair Lady
Come From Away

Lol, I just explained to her last week what being gay was, while at a restaurant, after I finished she said “WE DONT TALK ABOUT THAT IN PUBLIC”
I haven’t seen Beautiful so can’t help you out. According to TKTS app (which may help you), age guidance is age 12.

i find it ironic that I (a liberal, gay man) is trying to help her not be offended. But I’m doing this for you, not her as I want you to have a pleasant experience. Anyway, there’s a gay couple in CFA and you’ve already mentioned why MFL won’t work. So it’s likely Hello, Dolly! which of course is awesome. And it’s one of Bernadette’s last performances.

Thank you. (Also coming out to her will be fun for me.) So ig we’ll probably be seeing hello dolly, unless I find something else
You can't go wrong with Hello, Dolly (especially with Bernadette!) but I think you should consider Anastasia as well. It's not a Disney musical technically, and I thought it was really beautifully done and enjoyable for people of any age.
I'd take her to Come From Away. It might change her cold heart.
Yeah if you need to give her two options, I’d suggest Beautiful and Hello, Dolly! unless someone can suggest why Beautiful isn’t a good option.

Honestly I think she would b okay with come From Away, b/c my conservative af dad didn’t have a problem with the Kevin’s
You can’t go wrong with Hello Dolly. But if she might want to see something with a modern flair, while still being a conservative period piece, Anastasia could be fun.
So between Anastasia, Beautiful, Come From Away, and Hello, Dolly!, what two shows (supposing you’re still giving her two shows to pick from), which 2 do you most want to see?

I agree with some other posters, Hello Dolly if you want old school, Anastasia if you want something a little more modern (like show style, not setting, obviously). They're probably the most innocuous while still being enjoyable.
