I agree with some other posters, Hello Dolly if you want old school, Anastasia if you want something a little more modern (like show style, not setting, obviously). They're probably the most innocuous while still being enjoyable.
Ooh, I totally forgot about Come From Away! Do Come From Away, for sure. Dolly would be my #2 choice.

What about a show that will task her to confront some of her close-mindedness? Theater is at its best when it challenges and provokes. Kinky Boots seems appropriate here.

I can see it now. Things she’ll be offended by:
Phantom - Creepy guy holds woman against her will

For the Conservatives, this is a feature, not a bug
Okay, I’ve narrowed it down to Anastasia, Come From Away and, Hello, Dolly,

Come From Away. Beautiful piece especially if she remembers 9/11. Not only that, but it's one of the best musicals currently playing!

"Come From Away" is a wonderful show but it has language that Granny won't like.
Stick with Dolly or My Fair Lady. She has probably seen the movies and she'll love wither one.
Trust me I know how amazing Come From Away is, (look at my PFP, Astrid Van Wieren who is in Come From Away), and if I take her it’ll be round 3. I don’t she’ll have a problem with STFD, and I think that she’ll enjoy I holistically, though I might cover her eyes for a specific part in 28 hours
I'd say Hello Dolly and Anastasia. They're both very classic in structure, have literally nothing anyone could be offended or upset by, and they're both visually and musically very beautiful.
Hello, Dolly or My Fair Lady. Though I don’t know Granny’s age, most people over say, age 50, know a little about them. Normally I’d lump something like Carousel in because it’s classic Rodgers and Hammerstein, but I think Grandma might not like a black Billy Bigelow or a minority Jigger.
I have a really conservative mom (just personally conservative -- socially and politically she's liberal and won't watch TV if Donald Trump is onscreen). She liked Hello Dolly! and Carousel. I also suggest My Fair Lady. Those three shows are as G-rated as it gets on B'way.
For newer shows, CFA and Anastasia are clean too, but IMO not at the quality of Hello Dolly!, MFL and Carousel.

Your profile picture is the Hamilton poster and you are making comments like this... This thread sickens me. Let’s stop encouraging the disparagement of shows that celebrate diversity and inclusion.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I’m not talking about a white conservative Grandma, my grandma is from India so she loves minority’s on stage!
That makes this totally different! Southeast Asian conservative grandma is verrrrry different then my elderly Caucasian grandma. My neighbor is my adopted dadi—she’s 79 and brings treats for me and my boyfriend—and one of her favorite movies is Hello, Dolly. By default, I now say Dolly. Classics are classic for a reason. And of the 3 major classic revivals running right now, I think Dolly is the best. CFA would be a good choice as well and I don’t think it has a lot of controversy in it. It forces the audience to face facts and think about the people that make up those facts.
I know this is weird but Kinky Boots seems to have a huge fanbase among senior citizens. Every time I've gone there's always been a whole bunch of grandmas absolutely loving it.
Every time (twice now - once each with Bette and Bernadette each) I’ve seen Hello, Dolly! it has felt like a true treat. Doesn’t sound like she makes it to the theater very often and this show is closing soon. The other shows in close contention are not likely closing any time soon. So I vote ultimately for Hello, Dolly! You can’t really go wrong with it. Classic score, award-winning revival, leaves with a smile plastered on your face as you depart the theater.

Of course you recommended that! She actually saw school of rock with my little brother last time she was here, really enjoyed the little kids!

Too bad Matilda isn't still running. If she likes kids, she would have enjoyed that one.

Amazed no one mentioned wicked
