There have been countless threads about shows that we want to see revived. But what are some shows that will not get revived because of some reason?
I'm thinking Jesus Christ Superstar and Godspell because of the whole religion thing. Also, Hair, because they would not be allowed to do it now, because of nudity, some subject matter, etc. In the 60s and 70s, yes, but not now.
'Superstar' was revived two years ago and both it and 'Godspell' are constantly being reinvented on the road.
There's been talk of a 'Hair' revival for years but I think it's more a weird rights issue than anything else.

Why not any nudity today? Seriously, I do not see a problem with it.
I'm kinda betting Oh Calcutta won't be revived anytime soon...
and no ones really pushing for a No, No Nanette revival either.
Hair sounds like it may be back sooner than you think:

Keeping my fingers crossed.
Yay! I'm really glad that Hair might be back! That's such a good show!
I'd love to see Hair revived! Being born and raised in Boston, I have no love for No No Nanette, for some silly reason!

I have never seen or heard Hair (except Age of Aquarius, which I am a part of). Is the DVD a good portrayal of the show?

Shows that will not get revived....... I saw "Swingin' on a Star" back in like '96. What a horrible concept and production overall. I can't belive it was even nominated for the best musical of that year's Tonys.
"Fig Leaves Are Falling".....probably not.
I miss Dorothy Loudon.
THOU SHALT NOT ever be revived
James Joyce's-"The Dead"...may it rest in peace forever.
I can think of a few:
"Nick and Nora"
"Cyrano"
"Metro"
"Dance of the Vampires"
THE DEAD was one of the most amazing shows I ever seen performed on the Broadway stage.
"Do I Hear a Waltz?"
It was a Dead night for me and all of my friends who were with me. It was a cast to die for too, but it just didn't do it for us. All I know was that when it was over I said..AMEN. Maybe it was just too depressing for me...whatever...just not my cup of tea.
Somehow, I doubt "Carrie" will get a Broadway revival. Shame, really; it's so bad you have to see it to believe it. Too bad I was too young to appreciate it when we lived in New York...
It was VERY depressing. Actually, it could be the most depressing show I've ever seen. But that's the kind of stuff I really like and that cast did such a beautiful job with it.
"Passion"
So sad that it won't.....yet so true.
There was a broadway production of "Gone With The Wind" in the 70s. I remember my mom reading me the review that spoke of one of the dead soldiers rolling over on to a pile of horse dung to avoid the Act I curtain coming in. That summed up the critic's feelings about the show.
