I am coming to NY in a few weeks, am planning on going to four shows and am trying to decide between the following six:
Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder
Side Show
If/Then
On the Town
You Can't Take It With you
Band Wagon
Thoughts?

Of the shows you have listed, I would prefer them in this order:
1)Gentleman's Guide
2)Side Show
3)Band Wagon
4)You Can't Take It With You
5)On The Town
6)If/Then
If you have not seen them, I would add Matilda, Curious Incident and Hedwig to your list of possibilities to consider.

Well this is based on what I know of each show (regional productions and movies), though on Broadway I've only seen GG and If/Then. My list would be as follows:
1. The Band Wagon
2. A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder
3. You Can't Take it With You
4. On the Town
5. If/Then
6. Side Show

I'll second the "need" to put Curious Incident on your list, But of your list?
You Can't Take it with You
Gentleman's Guide
On the Town
Side Show
To be fair, I really know nothing about Band Wagon to be able to actually consider it.

If you're into seeing Idina, then go see If/Then. If you could do without that, you most certainly can do without If/Then. When an entire row of people, presumably sober, are all talking to each other trying to understand the show, it ain't a good show.
On The Town and A Gentlemen's Guide to Love and Murder are SO much fun. Highly recommend both!
