Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the fool of Commedia delle Arte called Truffaldino. The only work of Commedia I'm very well familiarized with is The Servant of Two Masters by Goldoni where Pantalone was an old father figure, so it may be different in other works of the genre. If anyone knows the answer, I'm curious to hear it.
