"
I bet if it is for commercial release, then they will have Chris dub his singing at a later date. All of their B-Roll is dubbed."
Why would he dub his singing? Has he been having vocal problems?
Is anyone going to be at one of the filmed performances?
It's a pity that they're filming it during John Tartaglia's leave of absence

Apparently he's been out sick & his voice isn't up to par today but will still perform.

Oh that's unfortunate
Are we all sure that this isn't just another Library taping? This will be interesting...
As others have said, two performances aren't usually taped for the archives.
Likely because it will be highly marketable, can be part of a DVD bonus package when they re-release the new set of films on DVD, and the fact that there's a 4th SHREK film due out next May.
Are you sure they aren't just taping clips for a behind-the-scenes special for a future Shrek DVD release?

The Monsters vs. Aliens dvd already has that.

John Tartaglia posted on Facebook that he is returning to Shrek tonight, for one night. I'd imagine for the filming.
Tonight's show is invite-only..
Also found on craigslist:
"TONIGHT AND TONIGHT ONLY, SHREK THE MUSICAL IS BEING FILMED. I HAVE TWO TICKETS FOR TONIGHT'S SHOW. THIS IS A SPECIAL PERFORMANCE AS THERE IS NO ASSIGNED SEATING AND IT IS BEING FILMED. SEATING IS BASED ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS, SO IF YOU WANT THE TICKETS, HIT ME UP. TICKETS ARE FOR TONIGHT 10/20/2009 AT 8:00PM"
This is going to be awesome!

Hell to the yes.
Now that Johnny's back in for tonight, I'm super thrilled for this to be captured. Whoooo
This is so weird...does anyone know what they plan to do with this recording?
Nickelodeon? A DVD? A bonus disc on a Shrek box set?

Wait, so this *will* be a public recording?
There is no other reason for it. If it is for something that John is agreeing to come back for I would expect it for be public.
Tons of video trucks & equipment outside the stage door on 53rd Street, lots of activity .....
I'm glad they're doing this. Shrek is a show I'd never actually pay to see, but free on television (if that is the case)? Sure, I'd watch!
It's kind of the same situation as Legally Blonde was, in that regard.

Does anyone have any more info?

Again, has anybody thought of Fugobi? I mean, this show would be *PERFECT* for that. A lot going on, and very colorful.
I don't think so.
