It was my first EVER Broadway musical in New York! I loved it! Full cast and everything! Can't wait to see it on tour!!

Never got a chance to see it in New York, but I look forward to the day that it comes to Minneapolis, as I assume it will. I initially thought that this show would be a disaster, I mean... Shrek the Musical. However, despite my initial concerns, I have fallen in love with this musical. The score is fantastically entertaining! It's ridiculously funny, and I love all of the references to Broadway they put in. This show has heart, and for that, I'll excuse the fart jokes.

If either Sutton, Haven, or Sarah play Fiona on tour, then I am happy. :)

I really hope the rumours of Sieber touring turn out to be true!

Just got home from closing a few hours ago. What a wonderful time! I tried the lotto for my first time and won, and enjoyed the show for my third time around. From the second the overture started, I couldn't stop smiling.
The best part about sitting in the front row, though, was being able to make eye-contact with the cast, and being able to share their closing night pain. (SO MANY tears during Freak Flag through the finale...)

Was Haven Burton crying from when she started singing Freak Flag?

I can't honestly say I was a fan of Shrek. After listening to the cast album, and watching some bootleg clips on Youtube, I was left with the impression that the show was simply too big and that the gargantuon production and a uniformly excellent cast masked a lot of deficits in the score and, especially, in the script.

However, whatever my opinion of the show is, I must admit it gave me one of my favorite songs of the 2008-2009 season. "Who I'd Be" is, simply, perfect. It sums up Shrek's entire character in three verses, and is absolutely heartbreaking. That song has been in my 10 most played playlist on my Ipod for months. So no matter how much I find fault with the show, it gave us that one song. And for that alone, I wish it had run longer.

^^ I have a different opinion. The Seattle incarnation of the song was perfect. The Broadway version ended to too much of a high, and the reason for the song was lost. It really makes a big difference, to me anyways.

I'll miss this show =(

Not a fan, at all. Neither were my two kids. The best part of the evening was meeting Neil Patrick Harris and watching my daughter nearly swoon when he held her hand. (priceless)

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

"Was Haven Burton crying from when she started singing Freak Flag?"

I couldn't tell from the beginning, but as it got to the end, there were definite tears there... Agh the applause at the end of that number went on for a while, and at the same time, Jonny was changing his poses and the cast stood there holding hands crying. So heartbreaking, but they were tears of joy at the same time.

I've seen this show twice and I will miss it. It was so amazing and people just didn't go see it because it was "Shrek."
My favorite memory is being probably the only person to give Chris Seiber a standing ovation after "What's Up Duloc?" reprise!
