Out of curiosity, does anyone know if an understudy ever goes on for Sierra in ISBY once or twice in the week like when she was in phantom? I actually don't know anything about the musical so I don't even really know how large of a role she has to be honest.

That would be an alternate, not an understudy.

Correct. Sierra is scheduled to perform 8 times a week. She did have bad attendance not that long ago but hasn't missed a show lately.

Okay, thanks! Trying to decide whether to see Matilda, It shoulda Been You, or Phantom. Any suggestions on which one to see?

I believe Boggess has only missed one or two performances the entire run and that those absences were all pre-scheduled. Her attendance has been stellar.

Phantom and Matilda are not going anywhere anytime soon. It Shoulda Been You closes in August and then this production is gone forever. If I were in your shoes, I would catch It Shoulda Been You, just to have an experience that you can't have again after August 9th. Just my 3 cents.

Boggess has missed many more than just one or two. She was out for an entire week in May, I believe. She missed other random dates as well.

I actually rather liked this show, but I also feel like it will be done to death in regional theaters. So you'll have a chance to see it. And I don't think she's a perfect fit in the role. The show has a more pop/soft-rock feel to it and her voice doesn't quite suite the material.

She was out when I saw it a couple of weeks ago and David Burtka was out as well.
I wonder if they all play together anymore on any one night or matinee. When I viewed Tyne Daly's speech the other night after the Supreme Court's decision, I noticed the understudy for Burtka again in the curtain call line and as I looked closer at the woman in the wedding dress behind Ms. Daly, it didn't look like Lisa Howard. I think it was her understudy Farah Alvin-who is fabulous and I bet she knocked that song out of the park!
