That was fun! Spotted at the recording: Seth Rudetsky and Michael Musto. I'm sure there were more industry people there, I just didn't see.
Guys, we sounded great! It's going to be a great track for sure.

I was there as well! I sat to the right of the center aisle, probably the 2nd or 3rd row from the back before the mezz started. We sounded incredible and I can't wait to see the picture in the booklet when it comes out!
On the Pippin FB they posted some pictures from today.

First off...
CONGRATULATIONS to you all who took part! What a fine opportunity to be a permanent part of a Broadway show! What a great experience.
Kudos to whoever dreamed up the idea and made this possible. I don't know that anything like this has ever been done before...?
Now, some DETAILS, please. I assumed that you would all be singing melody only, but the videos on YouTube seem to indicate that you all actually had to learn harmonies. Yes?
What was the process like? ...and most importantly: did they feed you? Any trinkets/mementos of the occasion?

Upon entering, we all received a postcard with a production shot of Andrea Martina and the lyrics to the chorus. The other side says, "I Sang on the New Broadway Cast Recording of PIPPIN with Andrea Martin and Stephen Schwartz." The two names were autographs.
It was open seating and there were microphones set up all around the sanctuary. Nadia DiGiallonardo (music supervisor) and Charlie Alterman (music director) were on hand to teach vocals along with Stephen Schwartz. Andrea Martin showed up for cheerleading and singing along. They were impressed with the sound of the ensemble and eventually taught us harmonies they were making up on the spot (Andrea Martin mentioned, "This is history: Stephen Schwartz writing harmonies for you to sing!"). We had to record our vocals a cappella as to not interfere with post-production (they fed us guide vocals from the ensemble, but that's it, we just went off of Charlie's conducting). It was a really fun experience and a joyous environment. Everyone seemed very excited, including Stephen Schwartz, Andrea Martin, and the rest of the Pippin team. What a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for many of us!

Yes, we did have to learn harrmonies. They weren't going to at first but we were so kick a@@ that they went with it! It was an incredible afternoon. I literally got teary eyed. They even had us do the ending which it seems they didn't plan on either. I was sitting in the second row center of the elevated section. It was quite evident that we surpassed their expectations and we also got it done before 2:00pm.
No trinkets but a cool invite card and they took a group picture including Schwartz, Martin and the Musical director that will appear in the booklet.

Now, how friggin' smart was that to pre-plan for autographs?!
This really was an historical, and once-in-a-lifetime event for Broadway aficionados. Very smart marketing idea, too.
I'm very jealous of you all - but excited and happy, too!

Posted: 5/7/13 at 6:55pmThis was the kind of event I would have bid on at the annual auction, but NEVER would have afforded! Five hours later I am still incredibly pumped!

Posted: 5/7/13 at 7:55pmIt was so wonderful. I met some incredible people, and I could always use more theatre friends. The only slightly disappointing thing was that the autograph was a photocopy, but I got over it after about five seconds when Stephen walked past me. But the best part was when we were all singing and Andrea just came bolting in.

Maddie, that was quite cool when she rushed in. I was jut enjoying the looms on their faces when we were picking up the had ponies so fast.
I think I am finally starting to come down from the experience. Have been floating on a little cloud all afternoon. It was also nice to see a few people I knew.

Posted: 5/7/13 at 9:06pmHaha when she just came running in was hilarious. She had said she was waiting outside listening and just had to come in to see us immediately. As you can see in the video, we were in the process of learning the harmonies when she came running in and just joined right in. She was fantastic and all the crew were really impressed with how quickly we picked everything up. I can't wait to hear the final product!

I'm a little surprised how few takes we actually took. We were just that good.

ohjustjake...I sat right across the aisle from you. I was 4th row center on the aisle.
Yes - it was a very fun experience. Accurately described by previous posts so I won't repeat it.
Afterwards Stephen did pose at the edge of the stage for some pictures. A few people requested that he sign the postcard we were given and he chuckled..."my signature is already on that" and did not sign it. He did sign a few playbills and CDs that were presented to him for a signature.
The snips of the previously recorded parts sound awesome! I am really looking forward to purchasing this CD!!
