How to Succeed.. in the Spring.
I'm sure Roundabout will have 1 or 2 revivals to offer (Merrily? Anything Goes? Side Show?).
Anything I'm missing?
Is the Menier Sweet Charity aiming for 2010-2011?

If SideShow is getting revived, I guess everyone's pick for Haven Burton won't come true since she'll be on tour with Shrek.
Yes
Zorba with Antonio Banderas.
Which I was very excited about until I read they have
David Levaux (spelling) as director.
The man who singlehandedly ruined the revival of Fiddler on the Roof.
It's hard to ruin Fiddler on the roof but David Levaux succeeded by putting the orchestra on the stage and making Fiddler on the Roof like Chechov.
Fran and Barry Weissler... Please reconsider your directorial choice.
Merrily, please!!
I wouldn't mind seeing another Sweet Charity, but please build an entirely new set!
Zorba has been moved to 2011/2012 season.
I, for one, am very happy that HOW TO SUCEED...will be done next Spring. Somehow I never saw the original production though I certainly had the chance during the show's long run. It had received rave reviews. And there is no actor like Robert Morse. But then I missed the revival with Mathew Broderick, too. So I am determined to finally see it! I am glad that it will not be a Roundabout production, given their track record.
^ Yeah, but it will be by the same exact team who brought us this season's extremely disappointing Promises, Promises.
I think the disappointment regarding Promises is entirely subjective. It is entertaining many people to nice sized houses at every performance and I found some of the performances top notch and Ashford's choreography quite inspired.
I'd say the reception is as divided as Night Music.
I think you're dreading Ashford's next effort as much as I'm dreading Nunn's.
That is not good news about HOW TO SUCCEED...
Besides the casting of Cheno and the butcher of Turkey Lurkey, what'd you hate about Promises?
Well Night Music was nominated for Best Revival. The same can't be said about Promises. So that speaks volumes about the reception of both, at least to me.
Anyway, I don't know why people think I am this big Nunn-hugger lol. My previous posts reflect that I have some issues with this production. I think act 1 is uneven, but I absolutely adore act 2 of this production of Night Music.

Eh, we'll agree to disagree. I think the Tony nominations this year were more political than ever.
I personally think Ashford trusted his material more than Nunn. But this isn't the first time I've been displeased by Nunn's treatment for a musical.
Well, in March 2011, the new London production of 'Sweet Charity', is playing Toronto/ So I don't think it will be next season.
"I think the Tony nominations this year were more political than ever. "
I don't disagree with that at all. But I don't think there was ever any doubt that Night Music would be nominated.

What do you mean?

I think what this posting meant was that Sweet Charity is playing Toronto in March of 2011 so it won't likely move to Broadway and be eligible for next years Tonys.

Shows there usually play 4 weeks so it's not impossible that it could transfer and open before the deadline at the end of April...but it would be tight.

Into The Woods is being performed in London in August
I'm trying to think of shows that haven't been revived to death.
EVITA was said to be wanting to go into The Palace. It's definitely due for a Broadway return.
I'd like Roundabout to assign a competent director to a revival of Passion. Maybe Lapine would like to revisit it.

Donmar is doing Passion in the fall. It'll probably transfer.
That's pure speculation on your part. Besides wouldn't Elena Roger be the reason to transfer? She's going with EVITA to Broadway AND nobody has even seen her Fosca.
A commercial run of Passion would be foolish. It is a polarizing show to many who see too much of themselves in either Giorgio or Fosca.
If the production is good, Roundabout would be wise to partner with Domnar.
I hope we get a Merrily revival before a Passion revival. Passion is still a relatively new Sondheim musical, so I wouldn't mind waiting for a revival of that.
I'm with you but isn't Lapine supposed to direct Merrily at Roundabout. He's busy with Finn on the Broadway bound Little Miss Sunshine. I doubt Sondheim would okay another director if Lapine wants to do it.
I just can't see them opening the Sondheim Theatre with a non-Sondheim show. Anyone Can Whistle, Passion, and Merrily are all that Roundabout has left really.
Pee Wee Herman will be the first show in the Sondheim.
(No, I'm not joking)
So they're renting it out again? Ugh.
