Just saw that Edward Hibbert will be the very first principal character replacement in the show, replacing Peter Bartlett next week. Great casting! Anybody hear any rumblings about contracts ending and replacements?

Wasn't there just an announcement about Brad Oscar being attached to a new show? Can't find it, though...

Ashmanskas will be leaving for Shuffle Along in a few months. I'm not sure about the others.

Just some fantasy casting...anybody else think that Jason Danieley could make a nice replacement for Brian D'arcy James?

Oops, I got my Producers alum confused there. It was Roger Bart who just joined Disaster! D'oh! ![]()

I think he's a capable actor but no, I wouldn't automatically picture him in the role. Because that character has to carry so much of the play, a lot of the real plot and structure and emotional weight falls to the actor. I still saw the weaknesses with James but he brought a lot of qualities that overcame the material. Actually I find it hard to picture anyone who could shoulder that burden as effectively.

It's impossible to replace a god

I did not know God was appearing in a show

I really doubt Jason Danieley could handle the comedy of the role. But I'm not sure who I'd like to replace BDJ. I could see Norbert Leo Butz in the role but I don't know if he'd be a replacement at this point.

I think right now Butz would be as happy as a clam at being in something that had a shelf life of more than a few months.

Anyone know when Ashmanskas will be leaving or who may be replacing him?

Not that the show needs it, but if they ever needed to do "stunt" casting, Neil Patrick Harris would be pretty spectacular as Shakespeare.

I know Norbert and replacement don't often go hand in hand too much, but what about him for BDJ's. Kinda like SCOUNDRELS, but reversed.

If and when Christopher Sieber leaves Matilda at some point, I can see him taking over for Brian D. James.

For BDJ's role, I'd love to see Will Chase or Hunter Foster take over. I think they'd both be great. I also think Raul Esparza, Rob McClure, and Steven Pasquale could potentially take a crack at it. I'm not predicting that any of them will, I'm just thinking about who might fit into the role.

I would actually cast Raul in Christian Borle's part!!! His "Will Power" would be epic and rock the song up to a new level!
I actually think Jason Danieley would be great in BDJ's role. I saw him in Can Can and I think he can handle the comedy. Rob McClure would be wonderful in the role too, it's right up his alley.

Will Chase actually played Shakespeare in early workshops of the show.

Yes I can really only see Will as Shakespeare -not in the BDJ part.

Jason is incredibly funny. He could play the role in his sleep.

I can see Will Chase in either role actually. Honestly, I can see him in tons of different kinds of leading roles. He's such a versatile actor.
