That's hysterical about the candyman thing! But i still view that song as very beautiful and even if the first line is the same tune as the candyman, no one is alone makes up for it with beautiful intrumentals particularly the cello in the background.
c is for company, i agree withyou 100% percent. I'm very porud to say that when i had the pleasure to meet lauren molina i told her two things.
1) she is the best johanna yet in my opinion
2) and that her paintings are amazing!!
Everyone needs to click nthis link to view lauren's amazing painting dedicated to sweeney todd.

The point of Company is that marriage is not the "happily ever after" that people make it seem it is. It also tells people that being alone is not a way to be happy either, that we all need some "company." It's a brilliant show that comments on isolation, how people are so disconnected from each other in this society, how marriage needs work, how maybe marriage is not the only way to go either, I mean there are a million themes the show exlores. The book is extremely flawed, it's too sitcom-y for my taste, but the score is probably one of Sondheim's best. I also find it to be one of those cast albums that I can listen to every song without skipping any.
Having said that, Robert is an extremely flawed character and neither Sondheim or Furth made a good case for Robert's epiphany at the end of the show ("Being Alive").
Yeah, they totally copped out and gave it a happy ending that doesn't stand with the rest of the show.
I'm sorry, but that "Bobby-bubby" whatever was driving me insane during Company.
Of course, it was also a college production, so maybe if I saw a professional version I would appreciate it more.
